I'm running on OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) due to requirement of other software. The new LogMeInMac Client does not work on El Capitan. I've got my older version which still works fine. How do I stop LogMeIn from automatically updating the client to the version that doesn't work on my OS.

Remember, this is not on one of my remote hosts, this is on the machine I use to login to central and access the my remote hosts and is running "LogMeIn Client.app" from the /Applications folder. On first use every day, the auto-updateer overwrites the client with the incompatible client.

As of August 2018 Apple stopped releasing security updates for 10.11, and I am afraid we no longer support the client desktop application for Macs older than OSX 10.12. While we tried to keep the door open for a period, this was a change we eventually had to make permanent.

We are having the same issue. We upgraded to JSS 9.81 to allow El Capitan devices to enrol into our JSS. When I configure my client machine with El Capitan the auto enrolment through DEP fails (no alert on client machine). When checking the client machine account in the JSS I see the error "InstallApplication - Device was busy. Will try again." I am assuming it is trying to install the SelfService application as I have this set to install on all machines in my JSS. i have also noticed that I am getting failed commands, these commands all appear to be "Remove Configuration...." commands

On reboot I get the error below (JSS Error) stating that "DEP QuickAdd failed to download - Use the Purchases page to try again." I can see in Launchpad that something is trying to be installed. Once I hit the "Ok" button in the alert window and check for the application I can see nothing has installed (no SelfService) and my client machine remains unmanaged in the JSS

DNS name resolution fails because my VPN client is told to use my corporate DNS server, but my corporate DNS server refuses to serve name queries from outside the corporate network. When the FortiClient VPN is connected, OS X's name resolution traffic arrives at the DNS server with the client's public Internet IP address, and hence is refused by my DNS server.

The Tailscale client can not run on MacOS El Capitan because it uses an OS feature called the NetworkExtension, which did not exist in El Capitan. It is unlikely that El Capitan will ever be supported in the Tailscale client available in the app store.

Work is being done on a Tailscale client for homebrew on MacOS. Running with homebrew means it can not use the NetworkExtension and has to develop an alternate mechanism. It is possible, though not guaranteed, that this alternate mechanism will be able to support older MacOS releases like El Capitan. You can follow for updates on the homebrew development.

So the scenario is this: while you like (or dislike) the Apple Mail app, you need to change the default to be a different email client like Microsoft Outlook, Airmail, Thunderbird or something else. Perhaps you need it for a work environment like I do and want to just use the features within Outlook.

As a Windows support guy, I have recently tried setting a Mac up to access our work and clients' VPNs. We use Mikrotik Routers with RIP enabled to publish the routes for the multiple remote subnets to VPN clients. On Windows I just enabled the "RIP Listener" feature and punch a hole through the host firewall for port 520 UDP, and it works.

If you want macOS older support, probably using acme.sh client and switching to ZeroSSL SSL certificate might help as it has a cross signed AAA Certificate Services CA root certificate which was added to macOS 10.4 so old enough to support it. That's one suggestion I have for my users, switch to ZeroSSL -mod-managing-letsencrypt-dst-root-ca-x3-certificate-expiration-on-centos-7/

Just a quick note as we have had a few reports lately that Shrewsoft VPN client package for Mac OS X (El Capitan release) was missing in main homebrew repository. That caused troubles for folks trying to use our recipe on that subject from last year.

When we got to upgrade our Macbook Pro to the all new Mac OS X 10.11, we surely liked its slick new style and interface improvements. And what not to like. The only drawback was that our Shrew Soft VPN client has fallen victim of the new ship commander.

If you are using Junos Pulse, or decide to, I am aware of some issues with the installation. Since Mavericks the current client will not install properly. I'm not going to go into details, it gets very frustrating. The workaround I found is to install an older client, such as version 3.x, connect, and let it update itself. It configures properly, and all is good.

All internal web sites and file shares just hang. The OpenVPN client for Windows works fine. This is a High Sierra vs. OpenVPN issue I think. Maybe RDP works, due to requiring smaller packets than the typical 1400 bytes.

I'd also like to add that I have a sonicwall SSL VPN that I've used before, and connecting from high sierra works just fine. Even http access internally. But I don't know what Sonicwall uses, they have a proprietary VPN client on the app store that I am using. So something that Apple changed isn't compatible with Sophos XG's implementation. Plus you mentioned that your UTM works fine.

The Skype for Business on Mac client requires Mac OS X El Capitan and higher, and uses at least 100MB of disk space. We support the use of all built-in audio and video devices. External devices must be listed at Microsoft Teams devices.

Skype for Business Server 2015 also supports the following legacy clients on computers that are running Mac OS 10.5.8 or latest service pack or release (Intel-based) operating systems (Mac OS 10.9 operating system is not currently supported). For details about supported features, see Desktop client feature comparison for Skype for Business.

Mobility must be properly deployed for the Skype for Business on the Mac client to function properly. A common failure scenario is to have both of the following DNS entries resolvable on the internal network:

In this guide we will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to configure Apple Mail to work with your E-mail account with Woktron Web Hosting. Apple Mail is the default email client that comes with every Mac using OS X 10.0 or later.

Oracle Instant Client is a free, re-distributable version of the Oracle Client which provides the OCI and JDBC client libraries used by most OCI applications. The benefits of Instant Client are that it provides all the functionality of the full client with only a fraction of the download overhead. The Basic package provides the following files:

Of these, only the three files marked in bold are required in order to use the Omnis Studio Oracle DAM.
In addition to these files one other file may be needed; the tnsnames.ora file- which contains a list of Oracle database connections (service names). This can be copied from a full client install if necessary (created using a Net Configuration Assistant). Care should be taken if creating/editing this file manually as OCI is very particular about syntax.

1. Download and Unzip instantclient-basic-macosx-11.2.0.4.0.zip.
The compressed files will extract to a folder named instantclient_11_2. It is advisable to move this folder into your $HOME directory (CMD+SHIFT+H using the Finder) so as to avoid any potential problems with Mac System Integrity Protection (SIPs).
Your Oracle client files will exist at the following location:

/Users/myUser/instantclient_11_2 or simply /instantclient_11_2

2. Provide the Location of the Client Libraries
Before the Oracle DAM will load, the location of the Oracle Client library and its dependencies needs to be provided. Failure to provide the operating system with the location of the client library usually results in the following error in the Omnis Trace Log: damora8.u_xcomp component couldn't be loaded because the code fragment is missing.

To create symbolic links from the local user's lib folder (/lib), open a terminal window and type the following:: cd
mkdir lib (in case this directory does not already exist)
cd lib
ln -s /instantclient_11_2/libclntsh.dylib.11.1 libclntsh.dylib.11.1
ln -s /instantclient_11_2/libociei.dylib libociei.dylib
ln -s /instantclient_11_2/libnnz11.dylib libnnz11.dylib

Once created, any Oracle DAM that is linked against libclntsh.dylib.11.1 should load successfully when you open Omnis.
If you download a newer version of Instant Client, e.g. instantclient-basic-macos.x64-12.2.0.1.0.zip then you will need to adjust the symbolic links and directory names accordingly. Please note however that the Oracle DAMs supplied with Studio 8.0.x are linked against libclntsh.dylib.11.1, so in this case the symbolic links would change to: ln -s /instantclient_12_2/libclntsh.dylib.12.1 libclntsh.dylib.11.1
ln -s /instantclient_12_2/libociei.dylib libociei.dylib
ln -s /instantclient_12_2/libnnz12.dylib libnnz12.dylib
ln -s /instantclient_12_2/libons.dylib libons.dylib (note the additional library dependency)
