The Division I Board of Directors on Thursday approved the recommendations from the Division I Transformation Committee's final report. Many of the concepts have been referred to respective Division I committees to create specific proposals to move these recommendations forward. Restructuring work will begin immediately, meaning many elements of enhanced support could be in place by the next academic year, beginning in August.

Faculty advisors with decades of industry experience as newsroom leaders, copy editors, programmers, network TV producers and communications experts guide the student editors and producers, lending a fresh eye to projects and finding teachable moments. With this foundational training and hands-on guidance, students gain the experience and confidence to experiment with new and emerging platforms as they arise. The media center is a space for conversation, disruption and experimentation, where students tell stories in Spanish and Mandarin, cover the community around campus and Los Angeles at large. They also bring innovation to the way the USC community gets news, with a sports newsletter, a weekly Instagram show and even an audio briefing on Alexa.

From mobile apps to wearable technology, students focus on applied research and experimentation working with a variety of emerging technologies, immersive media, and human-centered design processes to design creative solutions.

The Solution: The talented students at the EMC will create visual media experiences to accompany the auditory experience. These pieces will be projected inside the Flynn theater to accompany and enhance the Vermont Symphony Orchestra/Vermont Youth Orchestra partner concerts each winter. Experimental film, motion graphics, abstract art, and projection mapping will be explored.

The Media Center at BMCC provides audio-visual support for events and presentations as well as a full-service production facility. We assist faculty and staff with their digital media needs and create visual media products for distribution to the campus and beyond. We also maintain labs for video, audio and multimedia production classes and broadcast studios for the studio classes.

The Charlottesville Community Media Center (CCMC) is a video production and multimedia learning center located on the City's Historic Downtown Mall within the Shops at York Place in Suites 9 and 10 (112 West Main Street).

CCMC is a member-driven operation that encourages and supports free expression by offering its members the necessary tools and resources to create and distribute non-commercial community programming on CPA-TV (Comcast Cable Channel 13) and CCMC social media sites.

The Holman Arts & Media center constructed in 1997 but was renovated and opened in 2014. Within approximately 10,000 square feet, it houses the fine arts programs in expanded spaces intentionally designed to foster collaboration. It allows students to work in open, airy studios on the two floors of the building. There is also a Garage Door Gallery for exhibitions throughout the school year, featuring visiting artist in a variety of disciplines and artistic styles.

Located on the second floor of Berry in the Baker-Berry Library, the Jones Media Center provides facilities, collections, equipment and expertise for researching, viewing and producing a wide range of media. Please note: When open after posted service hours, you can study in this space, but there are no circulation or consultation services available.

Our partnership with South Dakota Public Broadcasting ensures the most comprehensive media program in the region and gives graduates an edge in the industry. Students work in marketing, digital storytelling, radio, and TV production.
