We have added live chat to our B2B website. (we do not have service hub)
We are getting 40-50% of our conversations as spam eg "vjerv uviebvibfin".
It is becoming annoying to those who are responding ( especially in thier free time, weekends etc) .

Is there a way to make someone fill out a name & email FIRST? as I have seen on other websites?
Thanks

ANet, you really should do something about chat/emote spam. While I can see doing the same message 3 or 4 or 5 times in a short period of time to get someone's attention in an in-game "emergency", no-one should be able to do this:

This person linked waypoints and POIs, etc. tons of times within seconds all night long. The image above had so many EWP links that my chat history couldn't contain them all. After 3-5 repetitions within a short time frame, the chat window should automatically suppress further messages until a cooldown threshold is reached. Or have the message in the chat screen, but put a multiplier after it. Like: "[Emergency Waypoint] x62." I shouldn't have to block everyone who spams, as once they do this my chat history is already screwed up and the damage is done. (i.e. I cannot respond to chat if I was in the middle of a conversation or answering questions, etc.)

The point is, people shouldn't be allowed to spam. It would be a simple thing to have the chat parser to compare previous things coming out of a player and consolidate them with the multiplier to reduce their chat footprint. I don't want to disable emotes, since I don't mind when people emote stuff within reason. And I shouldn't have to set up tabs to deal with spammers, not to mention for whatever reason, my game client often "forgets" the chat tabs I set up, which means I have to set up the chat tabs each time I log in.

Agree there should be some kind of automated chat spam .. that stuff is annoying, but we all know it gets a lot worse.Divinity Reach often deteriorates into an RP porn/vulgarity fest alongside their emote games and /me says ...Yes blocking and reporting can be done but that doesn't fix the problem, its the offenders that need correcting and only ANET can do that, but.... hmmm

Yeah, hard to do anything about raunchy RP and stuff aside from blocking and reporting. Most of that stuff is obvious even around profanity filtering. I can ignore that mostly. The spam issue however should be easy to implement at least some sort of rudimentary spam blocking.

:+1:It wouldn't be right to punish the players at large for the action of a particularly rare few. Most of the time, I wouldn't even want to report these chat/emote spammers. I just want a way to mute them for a while. And an easier way to clean up my Block list. >.>

Or they could make it a tick box in options that we could enable as we saw fit. And condensing multiple messages with the same content with a multiplier tag at the end doesn't keep them from getting their message through, they just don't get to take up the whole chat log.

Hi Peggy, I already did that, and didnt work. I delete all the itens that I was use that day, even the huds, and didnt work. I dont have idea how or where from it sends this to me , because when I set my avatar in busy mode, I can read my chat, so, if when I am in busy mode I cant received no itens from no one, the spam stop. Must be a script or something atached at some bridge, I dont know...

If you know what avatar is sending the spam then mute (block) that avatar. Sometimes the spamming avatar might use some scripted object which sends the spam to you. Then mute (block) that object too. You should see the spamming object's name in the chat (just like the avatar's name).

The person who sent me the spam you have multiple accounts, all accounts that I know are blocked and reported to LL, but surely, he use an account that I not know about, so I can not block it. In my chat there is no as identifying who sends me anything, it is empty all the time.

Hi Monti, anyone can send a chat using a hud attack. HUDs are made with scripts, but I have no idea how it works and how the attack atachan my avatar. If I write the others can read me, but I can not read anything in my chat, no words in any color, nor if I have the nearby chat window open or on my console. if the nearby chat window is open stays empty and if everything is closed on the console does not show anything like, just the IM toasts are display in the up corner.

Yesterday I had a group flood my chat with spam, it took me a few steps to figure out what it was, when I did, it was a group that I did not "join" but it had me as a member. Maybe check your groups and leave any suspicious ones?

Finally I found what my problem was. Using the anti-spam of Firestorm viewer (Phoenix Mode) I could block all spam, which was sent through an object in IM-shaped, and as an object that was sending to me, came into my general chat instead to open a IM window. Thank you all for the suggestions.

I have the same problem put in a Ticket and still no Answer. You have to understand Secondlife is a Cash Based Game all the Lindons care about is how much money is spent and not about Spamers, etc, They do not answer tickets that much that is just a way you fell they support there users they do not. and will not I had to take my Avatar off line and lost Money on Stuff I bought for that Avatar.

Hi can anyone suggest any solutions to prevent so much spam coming in via our chatflow? It's flooding in and we get so many random messages. With the free version i'm not aware that i can request an email address before chatting. Can anyone help?

Hello, I have been having the same problem with spam in Hubspot live chat. Currently, I can't find a way to set up a question for e-mail first. Mentioned resources don't have a solution:

Hi @ASib14. unfortunately, because chat doesn't support Captcha, catching spam in chat is difficult. I'd suggest requesting it by adding the idea to the HubSpot Ideas section of the community. I know HubSpot's product teams keep up with these and consider feature updates based on popularity of the ideas. There's already an idea requesting that users can be blocked by IP address.

A similar solution would be to make it so that the chat can only be accessed at a certain trust level. (TL1 or TL2 would work, but it would require the users to participate more in order to access the chat.)

Or better yet, just make a useful LFG tool so people can see what group is up and what roles and number of players they need. And have people actually use it.
Trade chat spam is as bad as pre boost community ban on retail.

There is a limit. Like 4 or 5 messages in a small amount of time.
I know this because I triggered it a few times while chatting in trade.
By spamming it 3 times and then waiting, they can bypass the flood protection.

Sitting here in Tichondrius the trade chat spam for carries is getting way out of hand. Its like it used to be when we had gold sellers and carries for IRL money. Please either stop the carries for gold all together or give them their own channel. Cannot even try to sell things in trade anymore.

Especially now in dragonflight where you have forced us to interact with each other in regards to crafting items and having to find people to make personal orders, you post in chat and by the time you look up from hitting enter its already off screen

I completely agree. I've seen nothing but complaints about it both in my server and on the Discord, and has always been a point of frustration for me as every time I'm trying to help someone, it fills chat, completely derailing the conversation, so I either have to hope they saw it or repost it and feel like a spammer.

I don't think removing it entirely is a good idea. Occasionally seeing the status of all the servers is a good thing.
That said, I also think decreasing the frequency is something we can look into.

Twitch chat is a factory of spam, flame wars and random emotes. It actually did not use to be like that though, there's a video of Trump and kibler battling in arena back in 2013 and twitch chat was very civilized. =FRV4JMIQPpE

All could be fixed with a simple anti chat-flooding system. There is already a system in place for global chat (&), why not simply extend it and put some simple chat penalties? I understand that it won't deter really determined spammers, but at least it's something...
