REQUEST FOR FEEDBACK ON THE PROPOSED JONES FALLS TRAIL
Last May, the Mount Washington Improvement Association ("MWIA") voted to support the Jones Falls Trail proposal presented by the City. In June, the City agreed to consider alternative routes submitted by the community. The original and the alternatives were presented and discussed at a City-sponsored community-wide meeting on October 18.
The City is now conducting a thorough comparison of the trail proposals, and will present its analysis to the MWIA in early December. To proceed with the trail, the City must complete 30 percent of the trail's design before the spring 2008 deadline for federal funds. For the City to meet this deadline, the community must designate a preferred route by the end of this year. Failure to meet the grant application deadline means the trail will probably not be built.
Information about the trail proposals can be obtained by calling your area captain or a board member, and is available electronically at:

(Check back to this website in the coming weeks for updates and new information.)
KEY DATES:
*** On Saturday December 8 at 1:00 p.m. the City will lead a trail walkthrough. Meet at the Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital parking lot.
*** On Thursday, December 13, at 7:00 p.m., at the Mt. Washington Elementary School, the MWIA trail committee will meet to discuss the proposals.
*** On Tuesday December 18, at 7:30 p.m., at the School, the MWIA will hold its regular open meeting and decide which trail proposal, if any, to support. Everyone is welcome at both meetings.
The MWIA Board wants to know what you think, and why. Written feedback from the community, along with the City's comparative analysis of the proposals, will play important roles in the Board's decision. Please contact your MWIA Board members (see below) with any questions or comments about the trail, and also send them to:
