Hi,
I'd like to give my users to ability to drag re-size the boxes within
the diagram that I generate for them (as the boxes have child boxes
which they'll want to move around). I can't seem to find an option to
allow resizing automatically. Can someone please advise me on the best
way to do this. Thanks.

This will be part of the coming version 0.5. There is no support for this in the
current version. You would have to implement it yourself or wait couple of
weeks.

Can you tell us what new features you are planning for the next release. It is an awesome library already. Thanks

the next version will be a complete rewrite bringing e.g.:

- clean API: one major method for setting and getting properties: opt()
- even arrow heads can be changed dynamically in run-time
- much easier creation of new arrow heads (a screen cast will proof that)
- support for touch devices
- cross-browser export of diagrams to various formats (SVG, PDF, PNG, PS, JPG, ...)
- adjacency table which allows an easy traversal of connected objects
- editable diagram elements
- bug fixes and more...

if there is something you would like to see there, do not hesitate and let me know...

Ok that sounds great. Can you be a bit more specific about timelines though please? I'm looking to do a release early August and would like to get this feature in.

I'm afraid early August is not realistic. I expect to release the new version one month later, early September.

Hi Dave,

Any update on this functionality?

Alternatively if drag to resize is a bit complicated to implement could you at least give a quick response as to how to programatically re-size a box. As noted in another thread just changing the property values does not automatically update the diagram. Should we be changing values in the wrapper as well/instead? Perhaps we should be making changes to the properties/wrapper and then calling zoom() to trigger the redrawing of the box?

As a work around right now I have been using scale(). This works ok but doesn't allow for changing the ratio of width to height for the boxes.

Many thanks. Great library btw,

Chris

Yes, there's a plugin ui.FreeTransform that is part of the Rappid Diagramming Framework (http://jointjs.com/rappid/docs/ui/freeTransform) that does exactly that.

bugger.

Is there any test drive / limited trial of rappid ? I need to be able to show results to the PHB rather than saying "spend £1200, trust me it may work" ...

;)

Yes, there is. Just send an email to o...@client.io asking for a trial of Rappid.
