Minutes after landing in Rochester, New York we were on our way to our first attraction. We went to the Eastman House, Gardens and Museum. We not only saw the interior of this beautiful house and walked through the lovely gardens, we also learned tons about the interesting man, George Eastman. After figuring out a way to make a small camera that anyone could use he became a millionaire. He built this enormous house with 50 rooms then decided that he wanted it to be just a little bit bigger. So he found a company that would actually cut the house made of cement and steel in half and move one part over 9.5 feet! Take a look at the photo...the larger dormer window in the middle looks just a little different. That whole slice of house was added in. We also learned that there was no man named Kodak. It's just a name that Eastman came up with that he liked and added to the company name.
