I know this might be a controversial topic, but how about this:

Conferences have lanyard sponsors, flyer sponsors, website sponsors etc
etc etc. How about having a joind.in sponsor where they can actually get
a banner (just like the Combell banner) on the site when a user visits
the event or a talk from that event.

This means more ways of conference owners on finding sponsors and things
to actually sponsor and the joind.in sponsor plus the conference itself
can (and will) promote joind.in even more, since more views results in
more visibility for the sponsor as well and thus more comments.

I know there were other reasons that actually benefit us, but I forgot
them while typing.. :(

This is a completely new idea to me ... and I can definitely see the
value but I can also see some potential pitfalls:
- this would only apply to the website. Which users are moving away
from and in some ways, so are we
- sponsors can be VERY particular about how their brand is used and
displayed, so we might get a lot of support requests for this feature,
and personally I think we have enough to support already.

It would make more sense for me for a sponsor to support the use of
joind.in as a backend to a lightweight and properly branded mobile
site (which we've been talking about for years as a "pro" feature),
however I wouldn't block this feature if others are in favour and it
arrived as a pull request :)

Thanks Josh, for always thinking outside the box! I'm interested to
hear what the others think, the conference organisers and sponsors
particularly. Anyone?
