The lighthearted coming of age drama offers nothing special and does have a few cringe beats, but is also quite self aware, never bores you and holds up pretty well with adequate doses of harmless fun, references, puns and romance to end up a jolly time pass entertainer. It actually ended up a good hangout movie to watch with your friends gang.

This film is a very special one! ?? My friend Jaiseelan Sivaram from school is finally making his silver screen debut in this film and it was a delight to watch his performance?. Also, the college life scenes was shot in my actual engineering college. So all the locations like corridors, classrooms, laboratory, library hostel rooms gave me ultra nostalgia of my 4 years of college.

You have seen this millions of times , mashup of all movies but executed poorly . The movie is so shabby that the technical side of oh my kadavule which was made years ago looks way better than this. Songs are bad .

I'm unaware of the director's intention towards this narrative approach but from my perspective, starting from the protagonist's mocking line towards the "soup song" troupe at the beginning to the unintentional/intentional nod to "La La Land" climax, "Sabanayagan" for most part works well as a light hearted spoof comedy featuring sometimes smartly placed and sometimes cheekily staged spoofs on the most famous and culturally impactful romance dramas of Tamil cinema and surprised by the tonal consistency the makers maintained till the end.
