I saw a Jeremy Lin video today, and then I checked out a couple of his
other videos along the way. He reminded me of our conversations about
non-Asians as the core team or whatever.

He is a perfect example of someone who isn't afraid to speak about his
Chinese American background and being associated with it. If you look
at his pictures, videos, the friends he hangs out with, they are mostly
Asian Americans. He is proud of it and he is willing to stand up for
it. I am sure he is not a racist, nor is he against people of other
race/ethnicities. In fact, I am sure he cares about all people. But I
want to use him as an example to share with you guys that, it doesn't
matter if your team happens to be all Chinese/Taiwanese/Asian. Who
cares. Embrace your cultural background, be who you are, and work with
people you are comfortable with & the best people you can work with &
people who share with your vision, Asian, Taiwanese, Chinese, Black
whatever.

I personally was annoyed by your thoughts about wanting to have
non-Asians on your team. This is not about me being part of the
venture. This is about the thought that you want to have non-Asians so
it looks more attractive in front of VCs or business world. If the VCs
or the business world don't want to work with you just because you are
all Asians, then they are not the right people to work with and they
have issues they themselves need to deal with. Go with who you are,
embrace your background and your strong suit. If you indeed only want to
work with white/non-Taiwanese/Chinese for your own reasons, then I also
think you have some problems of your own. Bottom line, who cares about
ethnicity of the team, just get it done. And work with the best people,
the most passionate people, and people who are willing to work with
you. Period.

Drop the stupid stuff about preferring to have the next set of people as
different ethnicity as your own. Work with the best, the people who
will work with you. Not work with white people to make your team look
more diverse.
