Hi,

So the plan is Shadowrun tomorrow 2pm-?? and "Age of Worms: Return of Dragotha" Wednesday at 5pm (ish). Both at my place.

First, please RSVP for Wednesday. If someone can't make it, then I'd like to be able to run D&D tomorrow.

Second, assuming we do Shadowrun tomorrow, does anyone remember if Toby said he'd be around.  I *thought* that he was gone over the break, but I don't remember.  If he's around (or might be), I'll let him know about tomorrow, but I wanted to hear back on Wednesday first.

Happy Holidays!

I can't make it on wednesday until 5:30-5:45ish at earliest because I work until 5pm.  I never saw Toby included in any email chains about Shadowrun so I don't know about him.

I am unlikely to make it before 6 on Wednesday but I'll try like the devil. I may need to cut out early tomorrow but should know more today.

I'm returning to Chicago tonight, so I'll be there tomorrow.  I can be there whenever on Wednesday.  Any idea how late we'll go tomorrow?

I'm assuming that shadowrun will be something like 2-6pm, with the option to go longer if we need or of people want to do board games.

Maybe a few minutes to check on plans for your attack on Dragotha, if there's anything beyond "charge"

I think our standard plan of attack is "charge" followed by "freak out and 'bravely' teleport away."  Sir Robin should be our team's role model.

Are we still good for gaming today?  Also, I have a lot of frozen rocky's that might be put to better use on Wednesday if it'll last that long.

I think that three of us can fuck up the mission almost as well as 4, so let's go for it!

I'll ping Toby, on the off chance that he's around and last-second available.

So, who feels like playing the Mad Titan, assuming you gate him in?  I'll send stats along.

Anything else I should prepare for, spell/summon/special-wise?

He's probably not getting gated in unless someone gets insta-gibbed (and only if that someone isn't Andor).
Unless of course Andor finds a ring of three wishes somewhere, in which case he picks it up, puts it on, and sings "I wish you a merry christmas, I wish you a merry christmas, I wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year!"

Does Andor have a stone wall that would block entrance?  I have a force wall I can put up as well.

If Lucius can break through a stone wall, then I think Dragotha's reinforcements would be able to aswell...

So wall of force, and maybe Prismatic Wall would be better....

Maybe even a wall of stone  to disguise the prismatic wall.... so that if the break through the wall, they unexpectedly run into the prismatic wall without any protection.... It's a Wall Trap....

I do have scrolls of both prismatic wall and wall of stone, but I didn't memorize them.  I also have wall of force, though it only lasts rounds/lvl so it wouldn't be particularly useful.  The wall combo combined with Lucius' dimensional lock spell would make a pretty good barrier, as it would prevent bypassing the walls with direct teleports (but it still wouldn't stop something that could teleport directly to dragotha's chamber).  Otherwise, I recommend not using the dimensional lock spell unless we're clearly winning the fight as it probably hamper us more than help at first.  Dispels followed with dimensional anchor would still be useful.
As for overall strategy, it would be best for all of us to stay near each other to benefit from the spirit buffs.  Granted, I don't think even a +20 to anything is going to be making his breath weapon save.  Despite his likely epic spellcasting and breath weapon, I think the hardest part of him is going to be his melee abilities.  I wouldn't be surprised if he was doing 200-300 damage per full attack.  We don't have much in the way of preventing that (although I do have some stone skins that I forgot to apply to people), so we just need to take the thing down as quickly as possible while Lucious tries to keep people alive.  I can't imagine that Dragotha will be alone.  My expectation is that the lady/worm creature that got away will be there with Dragotha, so add in another spellcaster to dispel us each round as well as some additional critters.  Andor's role will most likely be buff/counter-magic rather than direct damage since he'll probably be immune to damn near everything (with epic saves).  So really, our strategy is the same that it's always been - cycle Lucius/Monty/Swifty into melee while everyone else tries to keep them (or themselves) alive.

So is the plan to go with Barry's plan: wall of stone (from scroll, so somewhat thin) with a prismatic wall behind?  If so, where?

Do you want to add a wall of force as a just-before-charge barrier?

Reminder: time stop does let you cast area of affect spells and as long as the duration exceeds the time stop, they will be in effect when it ends.

[if you want to, you can still change memorized spells, as this is part of the previous day's planning]

Well we don't know the layout of the room yet but I'd say we try to block whatever entrances we see. I can cast quite a lot of walls of force if need be so I'll patch up whatever entrance
suddenly starts pouring out enemies and isn't wall of stoned. I agree that we shoudl avoid dimensional locks at least at first. I think I'm mainly going to be focused on dispelling and I'll cast
a few more rnd per lvl buffs. I already got Lucious and Monty with stone skin btw. Possibly myself but I'll have to check my sheet if I did that or planned to in a timestop.

Am I dimensional anchoring the Dracolich? Because that can be my first action. I'd also like to sonic weapon my short sword because every d6 helps. And a stone skin would rule.

I would wait on the dimensional anchor.  Since Jen's going to be dispelling the dracolich first, it's likely that the anchor would get caught in that.  We'll start trying to anchor (I have one too) after a couple rounds.  I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but I'll be giving undead bane to both Monty and Swifty swords.  Sorry Lucius, but odds are good you'll either be healing or buffed up enough that it won't really matter.  Don't forget that bane increases the effect + of the weapon by 2 as well, so it's +2 to hit and +2+2d6 damage vs undead.  I can definitely get Swifty with a stone skin as well and can replenish stone skins from the wand.
I highly, highly recommend that you fighter types figure out what buffs you'll have in place and do your calculations for damage and such before the game (I'm looking at you, Lucius).
I'm expecting round 1 is going to start with a lot of talking - since that's a good way for Dragotha to both guarantee the first action and get rid of our rnd/lvl spells.  Let's just avoid that whole bit and pull a repeat of the Naga combat with a full charge.  If Dragotha wants to chat up it, he can give up a bite attack for it :).
I'm predicting that we kick battle off by promptly losing initiative, getting breath-weapon and dispelled while the enemy finishes buffs.  Unfortunately, there's nothing we can do to boost our initiative even though we're theoretically going in guns blazing.
I may be changing my spells around, but I'll have a nice note card list of them in order to be dispelled.

Or, you could just use the dried husks of dead character sheets glued together with tears

I could bring in that 4 panel 5th ed one. I'll put sonic, since it'll last 20 min, on Swifty's main weapon(s) and anyone else who wants it. You could do cats grace on whoever doesn't have +4
dex item to increase initiative but I'm not sure anyone fits in that category.

Swifty also would cast freedom of movement on himself, plus any others who want it (up to three).

Just an FYI:  I'll be bringing a Rocky Rococo pizza (spinach, green pepper, onion, half bacon) that has been patiently waiting in my freezer.  Anyone is welcome to it, as I will have already eaten before I arrive.

For those of you who didn't get the chance to look at it carefully, the treasure list....

Note that you aren't going to have any time to buy or sell things at this point, so don't count on being able to sell any of this quite yet.  But if you find anything you'd like to use....

-John

Dragotha’s hoard consists of the following, split among chests, urns, coffers, crates, and loose mounds of coins.
• 2,500,000 cp
• 360,000 sp
• 48,000 gp
• 2,500 pp
• Dozens of gemstones collected in goblets, silk pouches, coffers, swaths of velvet, and other containers worth a total value of 48,000 gp. This includes a single star sapphire the size of a fist worth 12,000 gp
• Miscellaneous items of jewelry (rings, earrings, necklaces, armbands, bracelets, anklets, and bejeweled clothing) worth a total of 62,000 gp.
• 50 masterwork weapons of various types, worth 15,500 gp.
• 20 masterwork suits of armor of various types worth 8,500 gp.
• A large drinking horn emblazoned with runes and carvings of dead dragons. While this object looks worthless, a DC 30 Knowledge (history) check correctly identifies it as the drinking horn of King Becksor of the Red Glacier, said to be one of the sons of the barbarian god Vatun. While not magical, the drinking horn is worth 4,000 gp to a museum or collector who knows of its worth, and is priceless to the Frost Barbarian tribes of the north.
• A darkwood violin with silver strings and inlays of platinum and pearl that bears the personal rune of the infamous bard Tvash-Prull. This masterwork violin is worth 6,500 gp.
• The petrified skull of an ancient reptile. The skull weighs 200 pounds, but carved into the side are runes in Druidic that detail several unique spells. You should take this opportunity to introduce 2–3 new druid spells into your campaign. Alternately this runeskull could contain the spells dinosaur stampede, essence of the raptor, and hungry gizzard (all detailed in the Spell Compendium). The runeskull is worth 3,000 gp.
• A set of seven paintings depicting seven deities (pick some worshiped by your players), done in a masterful hand. Each portrays a deity in a grueling scene of torture and dismemberment. They are unsigned, and each is worth 5,000 gp for its style to someone of a morbid bent, but their subjects quickly throw most churches into a frenzy. They call for the paintings’ destruction, and may ask the PCs to perform this task for them.
• A tattered book written in Auran and titled Winter’s Path—Volume V. A DC 20 Knowledge (religion) check is enough to recognize the title as part of a series of books about the virtues of monastic life written 500 years ago by an anonymous monk. Common knowledge holds that there are only three books in this series; lengthy investigation proves this volume’s veracity. It’s worth 6,000 gp, and anyone who’s willing to pay that might also want to pay a similar amount if the implied “Volume IV” could be discovered. The book itself is nonmagical, but the philosophies it contains could have interesting repercussions on some of your campaign world’s monastic orders, especially in how laughter and physical love are expressed as virtues.
• A scandalous dress of scarlet silk emblazoned with gold and silver thread woven into patterns of the symbol of Wee Jas. This exotic and masterfully made courtier’s outfit is worth 3,500 gp.
• A triangular shard of crimson metal the size of a halfling’s hand. The shard radiates strong conjuration (teleportation) magic, and acts as a portal key when placed in the correct recess of the eight-pointed star symbol upon the floor of area 1 of Maure Castle (Dungeon #112). The resulting portal leads to a dangerous demiplane called the Pinnacle Peaks.
• No fewer than 15 different wizard’s spellbooks, each filled with spells. You can use these spellbooks to introduce new spells into your campaign.
• A cleverly constructed clockwork songbird crafted of mithral and redwood. The songbird can grip a perch and hop around (but can’t actually fly) and plays two dozen different songs, from soothing lullabies to raucous shanties. It’s worth 4,000 gp.
• a +5 ghost touch chain shirt
• an adamantine +3 fire resistance breastplate
• a +2 heavy fortification light wooden shield
• an adamantine +2 aberration bane vorpal greataxe
• a +3 disruption spell storing morningstar
• an oathbow
• a rapier of puncturing
• a sun blade
• a ring of air elemental command
• a ring of wizardry (IV)
• a greater metamagic rod of maximize
• a staff of the woodlands (34 charges)
• bracers of armor +6
• a folding boat
• a tome of understanding +1
• a robe of scintillating colors
• a Daern’s instant fortress
• a greater strand of prayer beads
• an apparatus of Kwalish
• a philosopher’s stone
• a staff of the magi
• a wooden coffer containing three matching talismans of Zagy

Surely a petrified skull would be a fossil... therefore be stone not bone...
So True Res may not work?? Or because it was ?Millions? Of years ago it may not work..

That and I'm pretty sure it would just try to eat us.

Chance of being eaten vs. Chance of friendly dinosaur pet. Yeah, no contest. Also, do we have any cure potions to turn into True Resurrections?

By the way, Swifty would love to have use of the sun blade and the ghost touch chain shirt. And the fortress to use as ammunition in his sling.
