How fabulous for you to still have him.  Are they still in Redding?
See you in June.

They were living in New Hampshire until August of this year. I just moved them to TX to be closer to us. Dad has started to have some health issues that we all need to pay attention to.

How did you know my Dad?

Hi Martha,

I am Virginia Olsen Bush, class of 1962, and when I was in high school, my family lived in the house next to the church yard of your father's church, on Black Rock Turnpike.  I remember your father very fondly, and I hope you will give him my best regards.

I shall look forward to seeing you at the reunion in June.

Virginia

I remember your dad doing the eurology at Patti Dudak's funeral.  He was at the Congregational Chruch next to the Karaker's, right?  How sweet that they are now near you.  Do you have siblings?

The night she was killed is oneof my most vivid childhood memories. I woke up when the phone rang in the middle of the night + overheard my Dad talking to the police.

Yes, that's the church but it's Episcopal. Did you know th Karraker's? I just talked to Hugh's wife afew mnths ago. Naneen is in CA and occasionally in touch withmy brother, Jeremy. There are four of us kids, Stephen,Jeremy and Jonathan are my brothers. The older boys went to boarding school. Jon + I graduated from Barlow.

Hi Virginia,

I kind of remember you + I certainly remember your Mom who taught Home EC? No? I still sew a bit and remember her instructions.

Mom + Dad just moved to TX to be closer to me. Dad is 89 + Mom is 88. They just celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary.

Hi Martha.
It is also one of mine.  I knew Patti quite well and also Pete Beardsley who was driving.  I will never, ever forget going to school the first time after she died.  I loved her dad, our school custodian and I stood there asking myself why this had to happen to her and such a loss for her parents.

Yes, it is episcopal.  I had forgotten.  I think the lights in it were donated in memory of Patti.  I used to go to the cemetary and visit her grave.

I know Hugh very well and spent many saturday nights playing spin the bottle in their barn.  He was in our class.  Such great parties and such great fun.  His parents were lovely as is Hugh.  He has had his own journey with cancer.  I know for a time he wanted to make an inn out of his home but could not get the zoning for the breakfast.  To all of us, it will always be the Karaker home.

Such a small world and so many memories.  I cannot believe how long ago that was when Patti died.  I remember it so vividly.

Your dad was a great comfort to all of us at the time even though it was not even my church I never forgot him and how wonderful he was to me and many others.

Give him a hug from me.  Tell him his legacy has not been forgotten.

Yes, my mother taught Home Ec at Barlow for several years and after that at John Reade Middle School.

A belated happy anniversary to your mom and dad.  Number 65 is an amazing milestone!
