Twenty years ago, a neighbor of mine invited me to play fantasy football. Little did I realize how enjoyable the experience would be. Year after year the excitement continued to grow. Sure we enjoyed watching the scouting combine, the actual draft, and following our respective teams heading preseason, but nothing like the thrill of our very our team.
We could barely wait to draft our own players. We would do our homework on-line, fill out our spreadsheets, create our own cheat sheets, and prepare as if we actually owned a major league team. The draft party was a major celebration - pizza, wings, chili, burgers, chicken, chips and dip, and beverages. It has been for 20 years - lots of name brand food and beverage spread out in the kitchen, dining room and living room.
Now - the draft room. We didn't have ipads, laptops, iphones nor artificial intelligence with pre-draft online assistance. It was pure research, gut-fill and time to draft. We hit the stop watch, you are on the clock! We mirrored the way the pros did it. The experience was so amazing. We would stop mid-way thru - 1 hour break and eat until our hearts content. Then we would finish the draft. We all boasted of having the best roster, declared we had the best draft and would win the championship.
It was if we were owners of real football team. We emailed each other and made trades, dropped players, added players. The game evolved from fun to intense to passion to victories, to loses, to wins, to playoffs - HOLY COW, this was unbelievable! So much fun!
Fast forward 20 years - we still play the game. Some of use use pre-drafts, magazines, articles, internet, engine searches, still meet in person and go to the draft room (each with ample space to use laptop, ipads, cell phones, spreadsheets, magazines, pads and anything that we help us gain the competitive edge). Having won the league championship the previous year, I recall a conversation where I commented during the draft, "I'm so good, I belong in 'The Fantasy Football Hall of Fame'". Most would refer to this as smack talk online. My friend said yeah right - you should trademark that. So, I actually did trademark the name.
This week, we secured our federally registered trademark, the principal register, "Fantasy Football Hall of Fame". Not an easy task - over a dozen years to secure. It is a brand of fantasy football that offers "pick 'em" and also offers a dynamic game of "fantasy football" like you have never experienced. It is so much like the pros you will be blown away by the experience, the thrill, and the interaction. While you may never own a real professional team, you will probably never experience another fantasy football site so close to real ownership - the difference between real and fantasy gets blurred.
Our brand is built around creating the ultimate fantasy football experience, so similar to the pro experience that you enjoy it better than anything gaming experience ever. Imagine being inducted into the Fantasy Football Hall of Fame. Yes, we do have some that have been inducted. You must play within our domain and meet the criteria. It's real, it's fun and it's the icon of fantasy sports. Hope you enjoy it.
