Hey all,
I've been having trouble getting jodconverter to work on Ubuntu 8.04
server. It will convert most files but not ones created in MSOffice07
even if they're save as .doc's and not .docx's. it throws the
following error everytime. I'm using OOo3.1. Any ideas.

Can you open your .docx in OpenOffice.org?

http://code.google.com/p/jodconverter/wiki/FAQ

Kind regards

Which JODConverter version are you using, and how are you using it
(command line, webapp, etc)?

Sorry I should've known better than to leave all the version info out.
jodconverter-2.2.2
OOo-3.1.0

and the cmdline is:
java -jar /usr/lib/openoffice/java/jodconverter-cli-2.2.2.jar
problem_file.doc problem_file.doc.pdf

Also it's a 2003 compatible .doc not a .docx. it (and others of the
same type) shows differently when i test it with file
$ file testfilefor_printing-03.doc (created with MSOffice 03; works
fine)
testfilefor_printing-03.doc: Microsoft Office Document Microsoft Word
Document
$ file testfilefor_printing-07.doc (created with MSOffice 07; fails)
testfilefor_printing-07.doc: Microsoft Office Document Microsoft Word
Document
$ file testfilefor_printing-07-new.doc (created with MSOffice 07;
fails)
testfilefor_printing-07-new.doc: Microsoft Office Document Microsoft
Word Document
$ file testfilefor_printing-ooo.doc (created with OOo 3.1.0; works
fine)
testfilefor_printing-ooo.doc: Microsoft Office Document
the file in my previous post is the first MSO07 file, the app on my
server renames all files with a timestamp + original file extention
and in the process of trying to figure out what was wrong I replaced
the timestamp with something more human friendly.

That is weird. Maybe there's something wrong with your OOo
installation. Try reinstalling, or try on a different machine.

Kind regards

Mirko
