What’s been happening at Ultitude

Congratulations to the Ultitude League team for braving last weeks cold weather. We played Dream team and the resulting score was 15 - 4 to Ultitude. Our next match is on the 23rd of July when we will be taking on Wicked, if you have any interest in playing please contact a committee member.

If you still have not contacted Devin or Dani about getting your black kit, please do so as soon as possible.

This coming week

Monday - Opens League 6:30pm for 7:15pm start at WITs. Ladies practice on the bottom fields at WITs.

Wednesday - Pick up 6:30pm for 7:00pm at Pirates. Bring a friend!!! And some warm clothes.

Saturday - Pick up 3:00pm at Pirates. Bring a friend!

Weekly Rule

17.5. Strip Fouls: 17.5.1. A Strip Foul occurs when a defensive foul causes the receiver or thrower to drop the disc after they have gained possession. 17.5.2. If the reception would have otherwise been a goal, and the foul is uncontested, a goal is awarded. 17.6. Offensive Receiving Fouls: 17.6.1. An Offensive Receiving Foul occurs when a receiver initiates contact with a defensive player before, while, or directly after, either player makes a play on the disc. 17.6.2. If the foul is uncontested, the result is a turnover, and the defensive player gains possession at the point of the breach. 17.6.3. If the pass is complete and the foul is contested, the disc returns to the thrower.

What’s been happening at Ultitude

Ultitude is again up against Wicked in next weeks league game (23rd July). Ringers will be organised closer to the time over the Whatsapp group, so keep your eyes peeled for any new messages. The World Ultimate Club Champs hit off this Sunday, two clubs from South Africa are participating in the championships so lets show our support. If you would like to watch UCT Flying Tigers or Donkeys Ultimate battle it up against other clubs , the games are available to stream on the WFDF Facebook page - Go check it out! 

This coming week

Monday - League Games. Ultitude vs Wicked on the 23rd of July.

Wednesday - Pick up 6:30pm for 7:00pm at Pirates. Bring a friend!

Saturday - Pick up 3:00pm at Pirates. Bring a friend!

Weekly Rule

18.3. “Pick” Violations: 18.3.1. If a defensive player is guarding one offensive player and they are prevented from moving towards/with that player by another player, that defensive player may call “Pick”. However it is not a pick if both the player being guarded and the obstructing player are making a play on the disc. 18.3.1.1. Prior to making the "Pick" call, the defender may delay the call up to two (2) seconds to determine if the obstruction will affect the play. 18.3.2. If play has stopped, the obstructed player may move to the agreed position they would have otherwise occupied if the obstruction had not occurred, unless specified otherwise. 18.3.3. All players should take reasonable efforts to avoid the occurrence of picks. 18.3.3.1. During any stoppage opposing players may agree to slightly adjust their locations to avoid potential picks.

What’s been happening at Ultitude

Open and Womxn's Nationals took place over the weekend. It was a great tournament with 12 Men's teams and 7 Womxn's teams. The Long Donkeys and UCT BenGALs finished 1st in their respective divisions. With the tournament over the next big thing to focus on is Rocktober. Rocktober will take place in JHB this year at the East Rand polo club over the weekend of the 27th and 28th October.

Ultitude will begin practice for Rocktober starting next week. GET PSYCHED!!🎉

A request from the GFDA

An Ultimate clinic is being held this Saturday (18 August) in Soweto for 50+ students. 9:30am - 1:00pm Thokoza park next to Regina mundi. If you would like to help volunteer or coach please contact Baden on 061 686 2877.
