Hi All,

This is an info-loaded mail, so try get through it. There a few handy links as well that we’d like you to look at, and save for future reference.

Hope you are all well into the swing of the season and looking forward to Nationals Training and of course the event itself. Currently SAFDA is voting on venues, but the choices seem to be all coastal towns, so be prepared for some traveling.

This weekend we’ll be tackling the Horizontal stack and zone offense. This will be the basis of our offense so please try be there - 11 March, 08:30 to 12 at emmarentia Dam. We’ll even have a cool-down beer afterwards for you 🍻😬
Here’s a doodle-poll to indicate if you’ll be there or not: https://doodle.com/poll/e664f35x86kvfcip

The videos below are from one of the great Ultitude coaches, Robin Willis. Please try watch them before Sunday. This horizontal flow works well for ‘pull plays’, and as a basic structure.  However, during games, play often breaks down.  For this flow, as for all flows, the essential thing is to keep calm, aware, and look for the open throw/player.

1. Ultitude Horizontal Cutter Flow

2. Ultitude Horizontal Cutter Flow from Sideline

3. Ultitude Horizontal Handler Flow

4. Ultitude Horizontal Handler Flow from Sideline

5. Horizontal flow disc on sideline

6. Horizontal flow Disc in midfield

Please bare in mind that these weekend sessions form part of the Nationals squad selection, which we’ll be announcing on 21 March. If you want to play at Nationals: please fill this form in before 9 March and we’ll add you to the list of potential players.

As I’ve already said a few times: we want to try make it into the Top 4 again, so we’ll only be taking 1 team, with 10 men and 10 women. The criteria for selection are as follows:
- Paying club member
- Dedication to and presence at practices
- Skill and fitness
- Coach’s decision

A quick note for those wishing to be paying club members:

Club Fees

This year Pirates have upped our fees by about 10% but since we are such a great club and care for our members we are only upping our fees by about 6%. This years fee structure will be as follows:

Year

R1,700.00

Half year

R850.00

1/4 year (3 months)

R450.00

Monthly

R150.00

Ideally we’d like our members to pay yearly or half yearly as it is less admin on our side.

The fees can be paid into the following account:

Account Details

Bank name: Standard Bank

Branch name: ROSEBANK

Branch code: 4305

Account holder: THE CHAIRMAN ULTITUDE

Account number: 00-676-919-5

Account type: SAVINGS

Ref: Fees-(Name)

Lastly: in trying to improve our spirit we’re slowly going through the rules so we can make better calls on the field. This week it’s less about rules and more about how we make the call, and react when calls are made against us. WFDF has a short mnemonic to guide you when dealing with on field calls - BE CALM. Try this out when you have to deal with a call next time and see how it works for you.

Thanks for sticking with us through the whole mail! See you on the field.
