Hi All,

The first javascript meetup went quite well, with a fairly decent
turnout at the Microsoft Campus. Feedback on discussions or
presentations went something along the lines of:

* "Nice work."
* "offer a refund"
* "Awesome, as before"
* Something about obfuscation

Will there be a meeting in June and would anyone like to volunteer
topics to discuss or a format for the evening if presentations can not
be found, bought or stolen? Even if you don't have the guts or know-
how to showcase some work, perhaps consider submitting an idea of what
you'd like to see at the meetings. It could be taken up and expanded
on if it sounds interesting enough.

Cheers,
Josh

PS Remember startup weekend that is likely to happen late in June or
July http://johannesburg.startupweekend.org/

Hey Joshua,

I'm sure we will definitely meet next month. I think we all agreed to meet on the 2nd Tuesday  of the month. So that would be the 9th June. I think Jarrod said he would be happy to do a talk. Not sure yet whole else is.

Cheers
Garren

Hi Garren

My calendar shows the second Tuesday as the 14 June, but the second
*Thursday* is the 9th. Maybe it's just the calendar 2.0 Pro edition?

It will be great to hear what Jarrod has to share. Perhaps some other
attendees will find something to share in good time. I'd really like
to see discussion on some of the following points at some stage:

1) Parallel comparisons between core frameworks (as apposed to
component frameworks) such as JQuery, MooTools, Dojo, ExtJS Core on
their various strengths like: Ajax, Selectors, Transitions, Widget
creation structure
2) Strategies to consider when implementing javascript in various
sized and purposed projects. JQuery is good
3) Javascript and HTML 5; Ways to leverage the most of changes to
the language as made available in most recent browsers (js version
1.8.5 - see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JavaScript#Versions).
4) Security and javascript - obfuscation (and sometimes de-
obfuscation like when using 3rd party scripts); XSS; injection
attacks; securing the global namespace;
5) More on using javascript to draw on Canvas or SVG!
6) More on Node.js!

Is the invitation from Mark a recurring one, or do we have to arrange
and confirm it each time?

Cheers,
Josh

Wooh I'm losing my mind. Very sorry it is the 14. Some nice suggestions. Lets see who is keen to talk on some of those topics. I think we have the room but Rob will have a better idea.

Cheers

Hi Garren & Josh,

I've been referred here by Marc. I'd like to attend the meeting on the 14th. Will this be held at the same Microsoft venue as in your previous meeting?

Thanks,

Candice

Hi Candice,

It will most likely be held there. We haven't made any set plans yet. I think closer to the time we will.

Hi Guys,

If you don't mind I'd like to give some short presentation at the next meetup. I have no idea what the topic will be, maybe "Extreme yet profound obfuscation of JavaScript" or "Guarding your library APIs (https://github.com/ilinsky/guard.js)" or something else.

I've booked the room at Microsoft Community night again for the meetup. I think we need one more speaker and we are good to go.

Thanks Garren!

Hey guys, if we all take a step back except Garren, maybe he'll give
us some more on NodeJS?

What would *you* like to hear covered in the group? If you prefer not
to be a speaker, please consider at least nominating areas that would
be relevant or useful to you that can be covered. Thanks!

Hey,

Anyone interested on talking on some of the topics that Joshua has mentioned? I would prefer to hold off on a talk. Rather wait until I have something interesting to talk about.

Cheers

Cool I think Sergey is talking on topic 4. So anyone want to do a talk on topic 1?

Hi All,

We still looking for one more presentation for the week. It doesn't have to fancy or long. A 5 minute presentation on something you have learnt or a new favorite library. Here are some new libraries that are worth a mention if anyone needs inspiration http://microjs.com/

Cheers

Wow! Nice list Garren.

Gonna be a lot more beer drinking if no-one else talks? Is that the
motivation I'm sensing here?

Sorry for late notice but I've got to work late tonight and can't make it anymore.
