I need to use simple 2D scetches, created in Rhino 4, in Modaris (Lectra). Lectra said to me, that Modaris need dxf-AAMA or ASTM. Its supposed due to the layers.
So, how do I export files in Rhino to make it applicable for Modaris?
I tried to replicate the this but i couldnt, can you please upload a rhino file just to see how you manage to do it? i want to open the dxf aama file in clo3d and only supports this format.
thank you very much
1. I believe that the file I attached to the thread is in inches. Modaris/Formaris is mm by default, so you could be importing the file fine, but the block is so small you can't see it on the screen. If this is the case, make sure you put the cnvparameters.txt file in the same folder you import from. The file is attached to another post in this thread.
2. In my original solution, I said to create the alias folder under dxf, but later I found it to work much better linking it as AAMA. If you created your import folder under the dxf import, recreate it under AAMA.
I found your problem, it does not have to do with your saving parameters, so keep those as default settings. Inside the block, everything was on the correct layer, but outside the block is where the problem is. The block itself needs to be on an unassigned layer as far as the aama standards. I made it a standard at my workplace that the blocks go on layer 0. Select the block, change its layer to zero, then try to import. It should work now.
Thanks for confirming that it is block related. I am currently trying to import a file from Rhino, could it be that blocks behave different in Rhino compared to AutoCAD? I have tried both creating the block on layer 0 and moving it there. I still do not manage to import. In the best case, I got no error, but the sheet that is imported is empty.
I tried your file (unaltered) where you re-saved my original sample file, and it imported perfectly into Formaris V5. I'm not sure what your problem could be. Let me know if you find anything else out, but there isn't much that I can do from this side of the problem seeing as it works for me.
I have the same problem with Clo3D - has anyone experience with it? I need to convert my dxf file to DXF AAMA or DXF ASTM for it to work in Clo - just as with Lectra. I followed your instruction until step six - but I dont have the option of creating a new ALIAS - does that happen in your data manager?
I am confused. Has anyone tried creating an AAMA or ASTM file for Clo3D with AutoCAD or Rhino?
Would be so, so grateful for help!
Best regards, Clara
At that time I found an alternative solution that was to use a free CAD software offered by a Chinese company named RichPeace. That software was able to read standard cad non AAMA dxf files and then was able to write AAMA dxf files that could then be imported into AAMA compliant softwares like Modaris or CLO.
