To this point, we have checked the graphics card settings, windows 10 is up to date and working (unfortunately no restore point). I have uninstalled and wiped all mastercam files from the drive, cleared the registries, reinstalled 2021. It wouldn't launch after splash screen but after I manually added the 'my mastercam 2021' and 'shared mastercam 2021' I can get it to launch .... again with the workspace and posting error...also crashes at closing. If I remove the mastercam.workspace file it wont launch and it wont rewrite a new one.
I have gone to the 'my mastercam 2021' folder and allowed permission. One thing that's weird though is when I unclick the 'read only' attribute....it wont stick. I come back after trying to launch and the 'read only' box is checked again.
Try Right-Clicking on your Desktop, and use Nvidia Control Panel (if you have their graphics card). Then, under Manage 3D Settings, to the Global Settings, and pick "Solidworks or Dassault Systems - V5 / 3D Experience". Then, go to "Program Settings" Tab, and choose "Add", and navigate to each version of Mastercam (under Program Files, find the ".exe" file for Mastercam). After adding the Mastercam Program, make sure "High-performance NVIDIA processor" is selected.
I've been on it a couple months now. Few things I don't like, the right click menu in file explorer having half the items hidden is one. But the option to have it remember windows locations on monitors makes up for any short comings, for me anyways. I also find that the graphics look better in win11, not sure if thats HDR related or not.
Not me anytime soon. When this laptop is on it's last leg and i have done all I can do to keep it limping along then I might switch. What I did is kept Windows 7 until the last laptop was unusable for Mastercam and Vericut. It is still working and my daughter uses it everyday for school. Funny when you have a kid using a laptop that is 6 years old that is still more powerful and than the best computers the school has.
"Software in the past was about solving problems in the real world. Now, the only problem it solves is how to get users cash from their bank account into (INSERT SOFTWARE COMPANY HERE)'s bank accounts faster and more often."
I must be that stupid because I agree with them. Not everyone is computer savvy. Over complicating something that should be basic is obviously something they did on purpose to make it more difficult for people (especially those who aren't PC savvy) to switch away from Microsoft Edge. Typical MS.
Yes and the defaults do all of these things. Trust me I have the none computer savoy in my extended family and I am the one they all like to call with the computer problems. I remember years ago using Gotomeeting to fix one of my Aunt's computers in Florida that the GEEK Squad said couldn't be fixed. Everyone gathered around the computer as I was taking control of it to fix the issue it was having. They couldn't believe I could take control of it and do what I was doing from 2500 miles away. Point is okay have the dummy process, but don't make power users suffer because the masses are content being sheep.
Most of Winelib code consists of the Win32 API implementation. Fortunately this part is 100 percent shared with Wine. The remainder consists of Windows compatible headers and tools like the resource compiler (and even these are used when compiling Wine).
Just fought an odd issue. i had my Winblows update paused. About 4 weeks ago I had an update that slipped through and had no choice but to accept it. i thought nothing of it, but had issues since then. I emailed QC and they told me to check my Nvidia Control Panel. I couldn't access it and then I was being asked to accept the update of drivers I did 2 months ago. I had to do a clean reinstall of those same drivers and now my issues seemed to have gone away. Windblows is getting really old and wish we could run Mastercam on a Linux System.
07-10-2020 - The latest version of Microsoft Windows 10 (2004) introduced a defect that causes a conflict with the HASP driver installed with every version of Mastercam. This conflict can cause a Blue Screen error, necessitating a system restoration. Microsoft is aware of the issue and is working on a timely resolution. The latest HASP driver found in the link below will prevent this from happening. Please install this driver as soon as possible, and before installing any version of Mastercam. We are working on a workaround to the Microsoft defect.
My question is if you have already installed the WIndows 10 2004 update. Will it be ok to install the Hasp Update after this windows update installs? Is there steps to take before installing the Hasp Update? Need details if someone could provide this information.
Mastercam Mill 2021 update 1 Launching Machine Sim from "Machine Simulation" options panel Mastercam will crash when Machine Simulation is closed
After crash, Machine Simulation will not run (crashes on launch) until mwMachSim.ini is deleted.
W also found an issue with the corner radius on an endmill showing collisions in MachSim even when the tool is not touching any surfaces. If you remove the corner radius, the issue goes away. This was also submitted to CNC Software.
I did not set the update to install. For the longest time the update showed available. Then after about 2 months(???) it showed that it was downloaded and ready to install. A day later I went to lunch and came back to find it being installed on my computer. No one knows why or how the install started. Any way I was hopeful that things would go well and everything did until I opened an older MC2018 file that I was going to convert to MC2021. When I opened MachSim to verify toolpaths, all hell broke loose. I was having freezing issues and then nothing in MachSim would work. It gave an error message that didn't make any sense to me so I call MLC to have a look. That is when we deleted the mwMachSim.ini. I was able to get Mastercam to open and then was able to open a file, but then Mastercam became a brick. Nothing was working. So we uninstalled all of the updates and reverted back a day.
Something else that happened prior to the update was that AVG was somehow installed on my PC. It was a flag and I called IT. They couldn't tell me how it was installed. (We already have a product that we were using.) They told me to just uninstall it.
When the update was installed, I was using the other parts of the system like Word and Excel, I noticed the system was very smooth and responsive. Everything just seem to work better. That is until I opened MachSim.
I am in mc definition manager trying to edit VMC a axis - trouble is window containing properties is too big to show apply tick at bottom - I can drag window but can't see how to change its size - so I can't apply changes - screen display is as small as it goes - is this a windows setting or mastercam setting I need to change - - running x7- anyone's any ideas??
On the screen resolution page (right click desktop then pick screen resolution), there should be a option about 'make text and other items smaller or larger'. Click that and set the slider all the way to smallest. You may have to reboot for the setting to take effect. This will fix the problem you are referring to.
Tried all - text already at smallest - messed about with other settings - but doesn't alter enough - if I change screen resolution to a 'squarer' type - I can get at it - them revert back - not great - but only had 1 window so far I can't get to tick at base - so manageable at moment
I had this happen last week with a machine definition. If you use the tab key to find the start point of the window you can use shift + tab to navigate back to the buttons you cant click on ( 3 x for ok ). You just have to do it blind and check that your changes stick.
While programming surface toolpaths I had an issue with a UPS (seems it was too small for the system) and the computer was powered off with Mastercam open. Upon reopening Mastercam I can no longer open the parameters for toolpaths, new operations or existing, simple or complex does not make a difference. Rebooted, deleted config file, updated to most current release of X8 U3 and no difference.
Any ideas? I have not called my retailer yet, but plan to do so after lunch and if I have a solution I will share it here. This occurred last night right before I went home so I have been using another system in the meantime. The offending system seems to be able to do everything else but toolpaths.
Heard back from supplier and we removed mastercam from registry and launched mastercam, problem resolved. Figured it was a registry issue once the reinstall did not work, but I figured I would let them play in the registry. I think deleting mastercam from the registry is a common issue as they have instructions readily available.
