Over the years, The Public Interest Network has recruited and trained thousands of people. Many have moved up to become leaders of our own network. Others have moved on to replenish and renew the ranks of the rest of the public interest community.

 

Currently, we’re seeking a Hiring Director to recruit talented, experienced candidates for our network. The director is in charge of hiring all experienced candidates for the network and oversees the materials, candidate searches, interviews and offers we make along the way. Specific responsibilities include:


  •            Recruitment strategy and networking: The Hiring Director creates and coordinates our overall strategy, with a heavy emphasis on networking and outreach to law and policy schools. The director aggressively pursues new and innovative recruitment ideas, and coordinates the department’s efforts with our network’s recruitment projects around the country.   

  •       Operations management: The director oversees daily operations of the department, including creating and managing the department’s budget and overseeing systems and candidate communications.

  • Tracking and analysis: The director oversees our tracking and analysis of recruitment data to identify trends and opportunities.
  • Relationship-buidling: build relationships with top campaigners and influencers around the country.

 

Location

Denver, CO or Boston, MA.
 

Qualifications

The Hiring Director must be a top-notch recruiter, able to identify and engage candidates from law schools and public policy programs, at conferences and other networking events, and through the political networks built by our organizers and advocates over our 40-year history.

 

Candidates for the position must have a strong commitment to public interest, environmental and/or progressive issues, and demonstrated experience and expertise in networking and staff management.

 

Candidates must have 10 or more years of relevant professional experience, post-college. Experience with political organizing, issue advocacy and/or organizational development is a must, but other relevant experience may include work in political, policy, legal, journalistic or government settings. Advanced degrees, including a J.D. or master’s degree in related fields, may count toward a candidate’s professional experience.

 

 Candidates must also demonstrate:

- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;

- Strong leadership and interpersonal abilities;

- Strong networking and recruiting skills;

- Proven problem-solving and organizational skills;

- A team orientation and focus on results;

- An outstanding work ethic and an entrepreneurial mindset; and

- Enthusiasm for the missions of The Public Interest Network and a commitment to grassroots activism.

 

A minimum two-year commitment is required.

 

Compensation & Benefits

Compensation for this position is commensurate with the amount of relevant professional experience that a candidate has. The Public Interest Network offers a competitive benefits package.
