Dear Friend,
In case you have decided to turn the news off because it’s simply too depressing (and that’s a choice I seriously consider on a daily basis,) I wanted to open this newsletter with a piece of news that should have happened a long time ago: Adelita Grijalva has FINALLY been sworn in!
I’m also thrilled to type these words — the shutdown is over!
I know that many inside our movement are not thrilled with how the shutdown ended. I can’t speak to the strategy (or lack thereof?) that got us to this moment, but what I can do is remind us all that we have midterm elections NEXT YEAR.
We will start seeing primary elections in a few months, so now is the time to get involved. Dust off that resume and head over to our job board. We’ve got some truly amazing opportunities listed, and they need YOU.
Even though we had a wild week in DC, we cannot forget the joy we felt last week on Election Day. We can replicate that joy across the country if we work together and organize.
