Job Title: Director of External Affairs and Outreach

Location: Washington, D.C.

American Bridge 21st Century, a progressive research and communications organization dedicated to holding Republicans accountable for their words and actions, is hiring a Director of External Affairs and Outreach to build partnerships with other groups working on oversight and accountability issues.

Responsibilities include:

• Build and maintain relationships with partner organizations involved in holding Republicans accountable
• Stay in close contact with stakeholders, Hill staffers, and partners to share American Bridge’s work
• Collaborating with American Bridge senior staff to prepare background briefs, talking points, articles, editorials, and other products to inform advocates, policymakers, and community stakeholders about important issues
• Serve as a primary point of contact with American Bridge’s partners and Hill staffers, organize partner briefings and calls
• Provide feedback to the team on how partners are using our products

Qualifications and Requirements:

• 4-6 years of work experience at non-profits, issue-advocacy organizations, and/or political campaigns, prior experience with external affairs preferred
• An in-depth understanding of federal and state policy and monitoring of governmental actions
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with multiple organizations
• Previous spokesperson or rapid response communications experience a plus, but not required
• A firm grasp of today’s traditional, digital, and social media environment
• A passion for following politics and current events
• A high level of judgment and discretion with confidential information
• A great sense of humor and creativity
• Enjoy working closely with others of diverse backgrounds and personalities
