Role: Communications Director & Press Secretary

Location: New Haven, Connecticut

Role Description: Leading Democratic gubernatorial campaign looking for a qualified Communications Director who will work closely with the candidate and executive team, reporting directly to the Campaign Manager. Role will involve working closely with a famed Digital Director and all around top-notch super fun team. 

• Develop communications plan & strategy
• Craft campaign message & communications
• Oversee media training
• Serve as a spokesperson for the campaign
• Draft press releases
• Coordinate with the press
• Manage a team of direct reports and interns

Qualifications: A succesful candidate should have 7+ years in political or advocacy communications. S/he must have strong communications strategy and messaging skills, strong media relationship building skills, and be an excellent writer. 

• 2-3 + cycles of campaign communications experience
  
• Proven experience developing press contacts & pitching stories
  
• Experience writing & executing a communications plan
• Thrives in fast paced environment with long, irregular hours
• Knows how to crack a joke
