The ACLU-PA increasingly advances its work by using an integrated advocacy model, which involves utilizing all of the ACLU-PA’s varied resources and strategies – litigation, advocacy, lobbying, communications, and organizing – to most effectively achieve specific civil liberties goals.
This position is an extraordinary opportunity for a talented leader with strong strategic acumen, comprehensive experience organizing at the grassroots level, and strong interpersonal skills to play a central role in shaping a new and bold vision to protect and expand the civil rights and civil liberties in Pennsylvania.
The campaigns director will be responsible for developing strategic, nonpartisan campaign plans and managing implementation by integrating grassroots organizing, legislative, communications, and legal strategies in collaboration with other staff and community partners. This position will work closely with ACLU-PA staff, national ACLU staff, partner organizations, and impacted communities and individuals to create and implement campaign plans. The campaigns director will initially develop a plan around our Campaign for Smart Justice-Pennsylvania policy goals, which include probation and parole and bail reform.
The campaigns director will supervise several organizers and work with the volunteer coordinators to build a strategic and meaningful volunteer engagement program. Although based in the ACLU-PA’s Philadelphia office, this position will require regular travel and occasional nights and weekends. This position will report to the director of advocacy and policy.
