Summer Intern/Fellow

Summer Session: May 18, 2015 - August 10, 2015 

Intern

This is a full-time internship that gives participants the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working with data and to learn more about BlueLabs. The ideal candidate is an undergraduate student with a strong interest in politics, advocacy, or social justice who has limited or no experience in professional data work.

We look for the following skills:

  • Excellent research and writing skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage several tasks simultaneously
  • Curiosity and a willingness to learn
  • Solid analytical skills and a can-do attitude
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills

The internship is paid. Academic credit is available.

Fellow

The Fellow is a subject-based, full-time position embedded within a particular team at BlueLabs. Ideally, the person is working towards or has an advanced degree in a quantitative field and has an interest in politics, advocacy, or social justice. He/She should also have significant experience working with data.

We look for the following skills:

  • Technical experience in an analytical discipline requiring practical application of mathematics, statistics, large data set analysis and modeling (including, but not limited to: Economics, Mathematics/Statistics, Political Science, Sociology)
  • Solid analytical skills, high-energy, and a can-do attitude
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Excel proficiency
  • Experience with SQL and large databases
  • Experience with statistical programming languages, such as R or Stata
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Superior attention to detail

The fellowship is paid. Academic credit is available.
