Summary

We are hiring organizers to support pro-choice candidates, build pro-choice activists, and promote pro-choice values in Reno. The organizers will conduct outreach in the community and with NARAL members to build support for pro-choice candidates and awareness about pro-choice issues in Nevada. A strong commitment to reproductive rights and justice is a must. The position requires the ability to work evenings and weekends. This is a temporary job for the summer of 2017.

Location: Reno, NV

Reports to: Northern Nevada Lead Organizer

This position is: Temporary, Non-Union, Part-time: Tuesday-Saturday shifts.  Rate:  $15/hour.

Responsibilities

• Engage with Reno residents, primarily on the doors, and occasionally via phone banks and community events, fundraising and providing education on pro-choice issues and values.
• Serve as a passionate and professional ambassador for pro-choice issues in Nevada.
• Consistently show up on time for shifts.

  Qualifications

• • Previous organizing/canvassing experience, either in a paid or unpaid capacity, is preferred.
  • Ability to follow general script and adjust as needed to audience.
  • Ability to meet reasonable number of doors and fundraising goals per night.
  • Ability to walk for several hours.
  • Punctuality – shifts have pre-set start times, to be determined by the Organizing Coordinator.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to quickly build a rapport in conversation with others, regardless of their views.
  • Positive attitude, detail-oriented, highly motivated and organized.
  • Ability to work respectfully with people of all cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Enthusiastically supportive of mission and philosophy of NARAL Pro-Choice America
  • Bilingual Spanish/English a plus.
  • Access to a car a plus
