Operations
Manager
BISC is
seeking to hire a full-time Operations Manager to support our
Washington DC office, remote employees, and assist the Director of Operations
and Administration. The ideal candidate will have four years of experience in
an operations or finance role, preferably in a non-profit setting.
The
Operations Manager is responsible for the administration of all financial
and human resources activities and data, and oversees general office
management. The position will be based at BISC headquarters in
Washington DC. This is a full-time position that reports to the Director
of Operations & Administration.
DUTIES
& RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in the management,
maintenance and reporting of all financial and human resources data at
BISC, using QuickBooks Premium and MS Office software;
- Provide critical financial and
operational information to the Director of Operations & Administration
and assists in preparing and maintaining regular financial reports to
management and staff;
- Review all month-end closing
activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet
reconciliations and overhead cost allocation;
- Serve as liaison with outside
contractors for annual audit and 990 preparations;
- Assist with annual budget
development;
- Monitor and maintain all financial
information, including grants monitoring and reporting, the accounts
payable system, payroll, bank deposits and reconciliation, funds received
and receivable, and travel reimbursements;
- Administer all human resources
services for a small staff, including health and retirement benefits
package, payroll and leave; and manage the organization’s insurance plans;
- Assist with periodic data entry
and maintenance of contact management system;
- Oversee general office management,
including but not limited to: filing paperwork (digitally and physically),
distributing mail, answer phones, monitor various email inboxes and
keeping office and storeroom supplies organized and filled;
- Logistics and reservations for
various trainings and convenings throughout the year and local Board of
Directors meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in
finance/accounting, or related field, and at least four years of experience
preferred;
- Candidate should thrive in a
deadline-driven environment and possess experience implementing
generally-accepted accounting principles;
- Knowledge and understanding of
fund accounting principles, practices and regulations, especially related
to non-profit accounting and management;
- Demonstrated experience in
QuickBooks Pro and MS Office;
- Tracking, preparing
and/or submitting federal and state required forms and information to
comply with tax, legal and insurance requirements;
- Manage financial, legal,
insurance and governance files in accordance with organizational policies;
- Demonstrated database management
skills with ability to produce reports. Ability to use advanced
computer functions;
- Strong organizational skills and
accuracy, attention to detail and ability to multi-task with efficiency
and accuracy;
- A positive attitude, interpersonal
skills, and strong written and verbal communication;
