Project Labor Organizer /New York City “Fight for 15” Campaign

The
 New York City “Fight for 15” campaign is seeking candidates committed 
to the fight for economic and social justice and to raising work place 
standards for thousands of fast food and low wage workers in New York 
City.
This is an exciting opportunity to work 
as a Project Labor Organizer for an innovative and ground-breaking 
campaign that is bringing together fast food and low wage workers to 
hold corporations and employers accountable, to improve working 
conditions, and to fight for $15 an hour and a union. 
Project
 positions are available immediately in the New York City metro area.  
Candidates who do not currently live in New York City will be required 
to relocate if offered a position.  Relocation costs are not reimbursable. 
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Outreach
 to low wage workers in and around New York City.  Outreach is done 
through a combination of worksite visits, home visits and phone calls. 
- Educating and motivating workers to join the campaign to improve their working conditions.
- Recruiting and mobilizing workers to participate in and lead work site and public actions and events.
- Identifying, recruiting and developing worksite leaders.
- Assisting with planning and executing campaign tactics, events and actions.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and worker rights.
- Prior labor, political, community and/or campus organizing experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and listening skills.
- Ability and willingness to work long and irregular hours, including early morning, evening, and weekend work. 
- Ability to engage, motivate and inspire others. 
- Ability and experience working with diverse individuals and communities.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Valid U.S. driver’s license, automobile (to be used for work purposes) and auto insurance in your name.
- Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Self-disciplined, proactive and able to work independently.
- Flexible and able to adjust to rapidly changing campaign priorities and needs.
Compensation:
 Competitive salary commensurate with experience, starting at 
$40,000/per annum.  Individual health care and dental coverage is 
provided, as well as reimbursement for business related mileage.
