FEDERAL LEGISLATIVE CAMPAIGNS PROGRAM COORDINATOR
DESCRIPTION: The Federal Legislative Campaigns Program Coordinator provides administrative and project management support to staff of The Nature Conservancy’s Federal Legislative Campaigns Team in the External Affairs Department. The Federal Legislative Campaigns
Team designs and implements federal legislative campaigns, serves as a link between The Nature Conservancy state chapters and its US Government Relations Department in support of federal policy campaigns, and engages TNC volunteer leadership in policy campaigns.
Our team’s expertise includes campaign development and implementation, grasstops stewardship, lobby materials development, policy engagement across the organization and coalition management. The Program Coordinator does not supervise any staff but may supervise
interns and volunteers and reports to the director of the Federal Legislative Campaigns team. Applicants should be prepared to work really hard on incredibly relevant issues in a fast-paced environment for an amazing organization.
SPECIFIC DUTIES INCLUDE:
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
• Bachelor’s degree and 1-2 years successful administrative/coordination experience in government relations or community outreach, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience and strong interest in political or issue/ballot campaigns and/or national politics. Capitol Hill experience and/or event planning experience a plus.
• Demonstrated excellence in verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to proofread work for grammar and spelling.
• Ability to work and communicate with a diverse group of people, including Trustees, government and legislative associates, volunteers, the public and other staff.
• Strong computer proficiency in Microsoft Office as well as database management and simple data analysis skills required. Knowledge of SharePoint-based systems preferred. Must be willing to learn other computer programs as needed.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities. Meet deadlines.
• Comfort with the Conservancy’s non-adversarial, non-partisan, solution-oriented approach.
• Ability to work effectively with and through others in a decentralized and geographically dispersed international organization.
• Ability to adjust quickly to changing circumstances, opportunities and priorities.
