Gupta Wessler PLLC—a private public interest law firm specializing in Supreme Court, appellate, and constitutional litigation—seeks a Legal Assistant/Office Manager for our offices in Washington, DC. This is a rare opportunity for a talented college graduate interested in public interest law to become an integral part of a busy practice focused on appeals and constitutional cases.

About our Firm

Gupta Wessler PLLC is the only firm of its kind in the nation—a private public interest law firm specializing in high-profile Supreme Court and appellate litigation. Our cases cover a very broad range of issues, including the First Amendment, consumers’ and workers’ rights, class actions, gun control, and health care. In these and other areas, we work closely with leading scholars, policy experts, non-profit organizations, and other law firms to help shape the law in ways that enhance justice and improve people’s lives.

About the Job

The Legal Assistant/Office Manager will handle a broad range of administrative and substantive responsibilities for a small but busy law office. Responsibilities may include drafting, editing, printing, formatting, and filing legal documents, letters, or presentations; scheduling and arranging meetings, speaking appearances, and travel; general administrative tasks, including keeping on top of telephone calls and emails for the firm’s lawyers; factual research relating to our cases; developing newsletters and other mailings; and other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

We are looking for a bright and energetic college graduate with an interest in the work we do and strong organizational, interpersonal, and communications skills. You should be detail oriented and able to prioritize multiple projects and effectively solve problems while remaining calm in deadline-driven situations. You should care about good writing and editing and be interested in continually improving your own skills as a writer. This job may be ideal for top college graduates who are contemplating law school or graduate school. Relevant work experience, particularly in a law-office setting, is preferred.

How to Apply

Please send cover letter, resume, at least one writing sample, and three references to recru...@guptawessler.com. The writing sample can be anything that reveals your general writing and analytic ability; a college research paper or an essay on any topic is fine. No telephone inquiries, please.
