Senior Director, FOCUS 2020

EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest financial resource for women candidates, is searching for a Senior Director to join our Campaigns team. Throughout its 30 year history, the organization has recruited and trained over 9,000 women to run, worked to elect 110 pro-choice Democratic women to the House, 19 to the Senate, 11 governors, and over 700 women to state and local office. EMILY’s List has also helped elect every single Latina, African American, and Asian American Democratic Congresswoman currently serving.

 

About FOCUS 2020

 

EMILY’s List is committed to supporting the campaigns of state legislative, down ballot statewide, and 2018 gubernatorial candidates in key redistricting states. This cycle, we are providing additional targeted campaign assessment and support to candidates. 

 

Principal Responsibilities

 

The Senior Director Campaigns, Focus 2020 manages the strategic planning, implementation and other aspects of EMILY’s List’s Redistricting program, Focus 2020.

 

Specific Duties

 

·         Oversees the planning and implementation of Focus 2020;

·         Manage and supervise state and local regional directors and staff;

·         Make recommendations and manage endorsements of candidates within the Focus 2020 Tier 1 and Tier 2 states;

·         Brief the President, Executive Director, VP, Campaigns on matters related to EMILY’s List Focus 2020 program;

·         In consultation with the VP, Campaigns, plan and oversee implementation of EMILY’s List short- and long-term political programs as they directly relate to candidates and campaigns;

·         Responsible for all data, analytics and institutional tracking of candidate, campaign, and other relevant Focus 2020 information;

·         Working with VP, Campaigns, develop and monitor the budget for Focus 2020 campaigns and related contributions;

·         Make decisions related to the priorities for Focus 2020 campaigns;

·         Seek opportunities and develop efforts to increase diversity of candidates, campaign-related staff, and the campaigns team;

·         Provide thought leadership around and opportunities for continued professional development and training of campaigns team and state and local candidates;

·         Serve as point of contact for key external vendors, contractors and other stakeholders;

·         Collaborate internally with all departments to ensure free flow of information and ideas;

·         Work with VP of Campaigns and Sr. Directors on outreach and strategic partnerships with state and local progressive and women’s organizations within Focus 2020 states;

·         Work with VP of Campaigns and Sr. Directors to ensure political priorities are aligned and communicated with key stakeholders and partners in active Focus 2020 states;

 

Qualifications

The Sr. Director Campaigns, Focus 2020 must have at least seven years of campaign and electoral experience, must have extensive managerial experience, and a strong interest in electing pro-choice women to office.  The Sr. Director Campaigns, State & Local should have strong communication and cognitive skills, and an ability to assess candidate races and implement political programs. Candidates must know how to manage a budget. Creativity is a plus.
