Overview: The campaign operations manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of Voters Not Politicians, the grassroots, volunteer-driven, campaign to amend the state Constitution and establish an Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission. The primary focus between March and November of 2018 will be on setting up scalable systems for the campaign, ensuring they can be implemented across the state and tailored to the individual needs of each of the regions, and winning 51%+ of the vote in favor on November 6, 2018.
Reports To: Executive Director
Oversees: Statewide Field Director and campaign committee chairs: Marketing, Outreach, Education, Policy, Fundraising, Volunteer Engagement, IT, Supply-Chain
Responsibilities:
- Work with Executive Director and Strategist to finalize campaign plan informed by results of statewide polling
- Finalize and maintain campaign budget
- Approve day-to-day campaign expenses that align with approved campaign budget
- Work with campaign and contracted legal staff to manage all aspects of fiduciary oversight, legal administration and adherence to campaign finance reporting requirements.
- Manage the state field director and oversee hiring paid field staff (including Area Managers), approve volunteer leadership positions and placement, and oversee all voter contact and GOTV activities
- Oversee and support all volunteer campaign committees, carefully evaluate progress to goal, and report metrics
- Develop committee plans and assignments in line with campaign plan expectations
- Approve and update field team plans to stay consistent with campaign goals
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Campaign Strategist to establish and execute strategy, responding quickly to new information
- Oversee management of field offices and Area Field Managers, who in turn oversee the Regional Councils
- Facilitate weekly meetings with Executive Director, Campaign Strategist, Communications team and committees
- Implementation of information security protocols including campaign databases and website
- Generate accurately and timely weekly reports for the Executive Director to present to the Board of Directors
- Support and participate in fundraising efforts as requested
- Develop and maintain relationships with coalition partners as requested
- Address issues or crises with campaign staffers, volunteers, or media with tact and diplomacy.
Desired Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an electoral, field, or campaign related setting
- A record of successful management of a statewide, multi-state, or other large-scale campaign
- Experience managing large teams of volunteers
- Experience managing digital teams
- Experience overseeing development and implementation of a statewide targeted voter identification and persuasion and GOTV field programs
- Experience with project management systems and implementation familiarity with IT agile project management methodologies is a plus
- Experience overseeing volunteer-driven field programs and/or other organizations
- Experience developing and implementing campaign strategy
- Demonstrable experience cultivating productive working relationships among colleagues and direct reports
- Ability to multi-task in a fast-moving campaign environment
- Fastidious attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work with diverse communities
- Ability to work long, irregular hours and travel as needed
