Nevada: Campus Organizing Director Position Available

SUMMARY:
NextGen America is seeking passionate and hardworking candidates to join our youth organizing program in Nevada, working to engage young people in local and national fights to prevent climate disaster and promote prosperity for all Americans. This role will be focused on managing our organizing program in Nevada as part of this ambitious effort.
In Nevada, this effort will focus on organizing young people in targeted cities, regions, and campuses to be more politically active. Our work will engage young voters in the state legislative process, in actions to hold federal and local office-holders accountable, in voter registration efforts, and build towards a massive 2018 electoral program. Our 2018 electoral program will include traditional electoral organizing tactics such as door knocking, phone banking, peer-to-peer text banking, and more. In addition, this role will manage fellows and volunteers on and off campus.
The Campus Organizing Director will be the key field director overseeing all field operations on college and university campuses across the state.They will manage overall statewide program goals and oversee regional campus staff members across the state.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage Regional Campus Directors across their campus regions
- As the program develops, Regional Campus Directors will manage field organizers
- Provide technical support and training directly to Regional Campus Directors and their teams, including part-time stipended student fellows
- Hold the campus organizing team accountable to goals and monitor progress to goal, such as volunteer shifts recruited, voter registrations collected, and commit to vote cards collected
- Manage the implementation of campus campaign plans and effective organizing tactics including traditional grassroots voter contact, creative earned media actions, event planning and turnout, and more
- Ensure campus organizing team meets all data and field reporting deadlines
- Implement creative peer-to-peer voter contact strategies using social media
- Provide input & strategic direction regarding local and state issues and campaigns for opportunities to engage in
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- 1-3 years of field organizing and management of organizers and/or regional field organizers
- Driven with a strong work ethic
- Ability to adapt to evolving priorities and manage several tasks simultaneously
- Previous campus, youth or student organizing experience not required, but a strong plus
- Very well organized; excellent written, verbal and presentation communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with colleagues and outside organizations and be able to multi-task without sacrificing quality of work
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to foster a cooperative, team-oriented work environment
- Experience working with VAN or Votebuilder
Bonus points for:
- Experience organizing in communities of color and prior training in anti-oppression, equity and inclusion organizing
- EveryAction experience
- Experience managing managers
