The mission of the new Mobilization Department at the Democratic National Committee is to bring ordinary people into the heart of the DNC and provide Americans with encouragement, power, and tools to mobilize in their communities.
We organize in all 3,413 counties across the country, through the state parties and from the grassroots, and we seek to impact down-ballot races and build the Democratic resistance to the corrupt, dangerous Trump-Republican agenda.

Writer
The writers on the Mobilization Team write and edit emails and direct mail from Democratic leaders to one of the largest supporter lists in politics. You’ll set up, and send emails and ensure a seamless, integrated experience for our supporters across written channels.
You should have an understanding of organizing and campaign knowledge, and be familiar with digital organizing, social media, and fundraising best practices. And you should be ready to work hard; this isn't a 9-5 sort of job.
What You'll Do
- Write for some of the biggest names in Democratic politics, including Chair Tom Perez and other Democratic leaders
- Innovate how to best reach and mobilize our grassroots over email and in direct mail and tell a story about the work of the Democratic National Committee that is coherent and integrated across all channels
- Produce email campaigns, including execution of complex segmentation and optimization programs, while ensuring the highest standard of quality
- Assist in the management of an email and direct mail calendar, and ensure complicated initiatives are executed correctly
- Produce clean, professional user experiences on tight timelines, and with coordination across our engineering team and non-technical departments
About You
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills; you should have an eagle-eye for typos and errors
- Ability to inspire people to action using the written word
- 3 or more years experience writing professional copy
- Passionate for engaging millions of Americans in advancing the Democratic agenda, strengthening the Democratic Party, and winning the 2017 and 2018 elections
- Ability to adapt to and create multiple writing tones and styles
- Familiarity with digital and social media platforms and a sense of excitement for new innovations in digital communication, mobilization, and organizing
- Comfortable working under deadline pressure
- A willingness to work long hours as needed
- You must be in DC or be willing to relocate to the Washington, D.C. area
Preference given for experience with:
- Writing for campaigns or speechwriting for a political campaign or office, or a state party
- Experience working in digital strategy for an electoral campaign, advocacy organization, or social justice or non-profit organization
- Familiarity with online organizing platforms and/or website CMS, CRM, and/or mass email systems (e.g. Blue State Digital, Convio, ActionKit)
- HTML/CSS
- Optimization and A/B testing
