About the Operations Manager
The Connecticut Operations Manager manages the administrative, financial, and compliance responsibilities of the Working Families Connecticut office. The position is responsible for "keeping the train running on time" in the Connecticut office. They provide logistical support for the Connecticut Political Director and Organizers. The Operations Manager will also work closely with the State Party Treasurer to manage the books and keep the Working Families compliant with Federal, State, and Local campaign finance, lobbying, and election compliance requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Finance and Compliance
- Prepare regular campaign finance reports for approval and submission by party Treasurer to the State Elections Enforcement Commission, the Federal Election Commission, and the Office of State Ethics
- Receive and process all contributions, invoice affiliates, and coordinate deposits with party Treasurer
- Maintain financial and compliance records of Connecticut office including logging checks received, processing credit card donations, processing invoices for payment, preparing check requests, and coordinating payments with Party Treasurer
- Monitor account balances and party expenses and invoice affiliates
- Assist Political Director with State Party business records and filings such as minutes, public meeting notices, endorsement announcements, and related documents
- Stay current on federal and state party and candidate committee campaign finance requirements
- Use database software such as Every Action, Action Network, ActBlue, WePay (or other platforms) to assist with donor and member management
Logistics and Administration
- Serve as liaison to office vendors, building management, and general inquiries
- Maintain adequate office supplies and ensure office technology in working order
- Assist with event planning, logistics, and scheduling, including locating venues, arranging catering, managing guest lists, and printing and distribution of mail invitations, and other logistics
- Manage and distribute mail to appropriate staff
- Assist with maintenance of Connecticut event calendar
Additional Responsibilities
- Occasional statewide travel to off-site locations to provide logistical and other support
- Serve as first contact for members, volunteers, and general public
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience with compliance and/or financial reporting work
- Bookkeeping, Connecticut or federal campaign finance reporting, financial compliance, or similar data management and reporting experience
- Strong competency with Google Suite, particularly Google Sheets
- Competency with general office technology and equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, and filing systems
- Ability to occasionally move boxes and printed materials weighing up to 20 pounds
- Experience on electoral or issue campaigns preferred, but not required
- Familiarity with campaign technology such as EveryAction, NGPVAN, Action Network, ActBlue, and FECfile preferred
- Ability to work and communicate effectively with a variety of staff, vendors, allies, and WFP members
- Demonstrated experience working without direct day to day supervision and working independently to meet inflexible deadlines set by state and federal law
- Extreme organization skills and detail orientation
- Deeply ingrained habit of always double checking work
- Patience and empathy when coordinating with colleagues on high stress legislative and political campaigns
- Some tolerance for change and uncertainty during election and legislative seasons
- Strong project management skills preferred
- A sense of humor, passion for justice, and interest in politics are helpful

Salary and Location
This position is a permanent part time position and will be primarily remote. The Operations Manager is required to work in the Hartford office at least one day per week when state and health officials deem it safe to do so.
Weekly hours for this position will typically be 10 to 20 hours per week, but may occasionally be as high as 30 hours to meet filing and election deadlines. This position is hourly and will be paid $23 to $28 per hour depending on experience and qualifications. Apply by visiting our Jobs Website.
