The NYC Public Engagement Unit (PEU) identifies and executes proactive strategies to connect more New Yorkers to key City services. Relying heavily on data analytics, new technologies, and large-scale outreach tactics, the unit identifies New Yorkers in need of assistance and helps them navigate and obtain city services.  

The Home Support Unit (HSU), within the PEU, is focused on homelessness prevention and reduction.  HSU partners with City agencies and community based organizations to link NYC residents receiving federal, state and City housing subsidies with landlords and brokers who have available apartments.The team has recruited thousands of landlords and brokers, helping them navigate the process for providing New Yorkers with long-term stable housing, including veterans, families with children, the elderly and victims of domestic violence.

  • Leading a team recruiting landlords and brokers and helping them navigate the process for providing New Yorkers with long-term stable housing, including veterans, families with children, the elderly and victims of domestic violence.
  • Managing up to 12 specialists, creating team agendas and holding periodic review meetings.
  • Evaluating programmatic needs and providing feedback on the implementation of new processes, creating team trainings to reinforce evolving standards when necessary.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with pre-existing key stakeholders and initiating new relationships with others in benefit of programmatic needs.
