RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Research Associate is responsible for individual
long-term research projects, as well as timely response projects. They
have a responsibility to perform in the following areas:
- Possess a strong knowledge of current events
including GOP leadership, opposition and right-wing activity, U.S.
Congress, and activity around the upcoming campaign cycles
- Thoroughly gather and utilize information from a
variety of sources including Lexis-Nexis, various government entities
and web sites
- Quickly read, analyze and format news clips, state
and federal votes, campaign finance reports, corporate filings, public
government records, legal records and related items
- Monitor and extracting key points from local and
national news
- Simplify very complex issues into factual and concise
narratives
- Some late nights and off hour work will be required
- Perform additional specific research

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Cunning attention to detail and strong organizational
skills
- Ability to take direction, ask questions and quickly
learn new tasks and databases
- Self-motivated with the ability to meet strict
deadlines
- Ability to keep up with the 24 hour news cycle
- Creative thinking and desire to explore new avenues
- High proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Political training or background to understand and
explain significance of events and findings
- The ideal candidate will have specific knowledge of
Nexis, campaign finance databases, federal and state-level vote
analysis, statistical data gathering, and primary source materials
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred and political
research, campaign, or government experience is a plus
- Spanish language skills welcome
