Congressional Canvass Director - New York City Area

We are seeking a qualified individual to fill the roll of Canvass Director (CD) for a competitive Congressional Campaign in the New York City Area.  The CD will work with Organizers and senior campaign staff to develop, implement and execute a direct contact field program.  A successful candidate will be a self starter possessing a breadth of experience across all aspects of organizing political campaigns, demonstrated leadership abilities, excellent communications skills, admin level knowledge of Votebuilder/VAN software, and knowledge of Excel and Google Sheets.  Applicants who live locally to the campaign or have access to their own vehicle will be given preference.

Responsibilities

• Creation of canvass proposals and plans
• Recruitment, hiring, and training of Canvassers and Field Organizers
• Tracking and submission of payroll and employee paperwork
• Leading quality control checks on all staff daily
• Tracking and assessment of the program and recommending methods to improve contact quality
• Micro targeting likely voters through research of demographics, income, and local issues
• Regular communication with campaign leadership and submission of daily reports
• Fulfilling other duties as required 

Requirements

• At least two campaign seasons with organizing or management experience.
  
• Absolute confidentiality with regards to all aspects of the campaign
• The ability to comprehend messaging for and articulate issues relating to the campaign
• Demonstrated admin level knowledge of NGP VAN software suites
• Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to use office software like Excel, Word, Google Sheets and file sharing services like Onedrive or Dropbox.
  
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• The ability to lead and develop staff
  
• Availability to work all weekends and Fridays
• The ability to communicate electronically at all times while working.

Compensation - $3200/month
