Position Summary:
The Director, Digital Engagement is a central communications project manager and strategist, managing a small subteam in leading a substantial, high-volume email marketing program targeting measurable outcomes for national and regional audiences. The Director will bring exceptional experience leading, planning and implementing email marketing strategies. Additionally, the Director will develop and plan organization-wide email and SMS engagement strategy and policies, and plans for evolving the LEE website and web-based experiences on related, emerging platforms. The Director leads, manages and tracks the Communications Team's engagement campaigns and metrics, develops and manages thematic content plans, designs and evolves content development and approval workflows. The Director also evolves systems for data-driven improvements to content campaigns through A/B testing and a continuous cycle of improvement. The Director proactively identifies opportunities to innovate, build capacity, connect strategies and streamline processes, working closely with two other directors in aligning email, SMS and web strategies with the social platform, digital advertising and experimental engagement strategies led by a co-director toward a strategy that aligns the LEE brand across platforms and experiences.
A "planning and doing" role on a small Communications (Comms) team, the director will liaise effectively with other members of the Comms teams to plan and evaluate communications support, and play a leadership role in content creation and implementation. The Director will manage a subteam that includes two full-time staff members and at least one part-time support staff. The Director works closely with LEE’s technology team to develop and implement strategies that maximize the Salesforce data back-end and integrated marketing cloud programs (Pardot) for effective email campaigns. The team will make data and data-derived insights available across the organization, building common awareness of best practices and learnings derived from campaigns.
Position Location: Flexible; Washington DC, New York, Chicago, California, Texas preferred.
Travel Requirements: 10%; Travel for internal team meetings during regular operations
