JOB DESCRIPTION:

Donor Development Strategies is running the first ever neighborhood canvass membership building and fundraising campaign for Florida West Coast Public Television (WEDU), Tampa's local public media station. We are looking for folks that are passionate about public media to get out into neighborhoods and engage the public about WEDU. 

WEDU has been an essential community resource for decades. It provides millions of people with in-depth news coverage, early childhood education, and intelligent entertainment. Its ability, though, to provide unique programming to Tampa and the surrounding community relies heavily on member support -- which is why we are building a community outreach team to bring thousands of new members into the fold.

Our staff talk to community members at their homes each day and ask those who support WEDU to contribute to the cause, all while gathering important program and demographic data to enrich our understanding of the WEDU audience. Our work environment is fun, casual, and mission-driven. No fundraising or canvassing experience is required, we provide all necessary training.

We are also looking for talented individuals with a background in canvassing to fill leadership positions as field managers. Field managers are an essential part of the office leadership team. FMs lead a team of three to five every day, train new staff, and work closely with the Field Office Directors to drive the success of the campaign.

CANDIDATES SHOULD BE:

• Awesome communicators. We talk to dozens of people each day, and need to be able to convey our message about WEDU clearly.
• Enthusiastic about public media. We're asking folks to support a cause they care about -- enthusiasm makes a big difference in that appeal.
• People who want to make a difference. We're signing up the next generation of public media supporters to ensure that all of the great educational and informational shows that WEDU provides are around well into the future.

FIELD MANAGER CANDIDATES SHOULD BE:

• Motivated to help our project grow. We need leaders who can develop teams and drive toward goals.
• Great at training and motivating others.
• Highly responsible and detail oriented. Field managers are trusted to safeguard and account for the public's contributions.
• Experienced at fundraising. Our field managers lead by example in performance.

COMPENSATION: Base pay is $10/hr plus weekly fundraising bonuses. Our staff averages $12-$20/hour.
