Development Coordinator

 

BISC seeks a politically savvy, organized individual with strong writing skills to support our fundraising efforts. This is a full-time position based in our Washington, DC office.

 

Job Responsibilities

Our full-time Development Coordinator will help us increase our impact by:

 

·      Creating and executing a donor communications program.

·      Assisting the Senior Team in the development and execution of the annual development plan.

·      Refining goals and objectives of funding proposals in coordination with senior and project staff.

·      Writing, editing and supervising approval process for grant proposals and reports for funders.

·      Drafting correspondence to funders for the Executive Director

·      Staying current on the latest issues and how our work fits into and helps shape the landscape.

·      Assisting the Senior Team in strategic planning, goal-setting, and performance measurement in the development department.

·      Maintaining a sophisticated understanding of all projects and programs for which grants will be sought focusing on progressive issues.

·      Managing administrative systems such as documenting donations in our database (experience with E-Tapesty is preferred) and the creation of tax receipts and gift acknowledgments for donors.

·      Tracking and researching prospects.

·      Maintaining donor records including donor tracking and assisting the Executive Director in all aspects of donor maintenance.

 

Qualifications

       Excellent writing skills: Strong technical and rhetorical writing skills as well as a demonstrated ability to write independently and under tight deadlines. Diverse range is critical - must be able to write about the big picture and clearly discuss specific programmatic activities.

       Detail orientated:  Extremely organized and detailed orientated. Ability to catch even the smallest task before it falls through the cracks., including but not limited to scheduling requests, donor communication tracking, and required follow up.

       Results-driven: Flexible and organized, and shows relentless commitment to meeting a high bar and a history of getting things done even in the face of obstacles.

       Effective interpersonal skills: Proven ability to communicate effectively with different personalities to move projects forward.

       Demonstrated commitment to the progressive movement.

 

We prefer candidates with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
