Overall Function
EDF has an ambitious content marketing strategy to raise the visibility of our work, project our unique approach more clearly, and connect with new supporters. The digital marketing coordinator works with the rest of our digital marketing team and across the program marketing communications teams to reach and influence people who appreciate our practical, science- and economics-based approach to protecting natural systems.
Key Responsibilities
The digital marketing coordinator contributes to the development and execution of the overall digital marketing strategy by:
- Taking primary responsibility for planning, managing and reporting back on small-budget (mostly $5K and under) paid web, SEO/SEM, social media and display advertising campaigns.
- Acting as the main contact for outside distribution accounts, vendors and services.
- Planning and executing short-term digital marketing campaigns in collaboration with the rest of the digital marketing team and program marketing communications teams to raise awareness, attract donors, and recruit supporters.
- Measuring the success of our content marketing through both qualitative and quantitative methods, using insights to inform and optimize future campaigns and to shape content.
- Generating ideas for new content and updates of existing content to tap into distribution opportunities and audience interests.
- Working with the digital marketing team and our digital acquisitions manager to identify and pursue distribution partnerships for EDF.org content, with a focus on paid opportunities.
- Organizing and leading initiatives to make EDF.org content more shareable and SEO-friendly.
- Identifying successful digital practices within and outside EDF, and keeping abreast of digital communication techniques in general (from microblogging and social networking to podcasting and mobile engagement), bringing new insights and opportunities to the rest of the digital, content, creative, and web teams.
- Managing select EDF social media channels, which includes monitoring and contributing to conversations, engaging influencers and thought leaders, building visibility for EDF, and tracking results.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Marketing, or Communications, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 3 years of digital marketing experience required, preferably in an advocacy or issue-related context where digital campaigns engage, inform and motivate.
- Experience managing SEO/SEM, social media and/or display advertising campaigns, including strong experience setting up and optimizing Google Adwords campaigns.
- Strong proficiency in Google Analytics and other relevant analytics packages, and strong analytical skills and data-driven thinking.
- Familiarity with the best practices in online marketing and measurement, with the ability to discover, learn and evaluate new tools as they become available.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including writing copy that is optimized for social media and digital ads.
- The ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and organize a varied workload, including the ability to rapidly adjust priorities to account for new opportunities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic, and entrepreneurial environment.
- An interest in innovative solutions to environmental problems.
- Familiarity with the disciplines of user experience research and design is preferred.
