A woman’s right to make choices about her own body are under attack and it’s a bigger rallying call than ever to support Democratic & Progressive candidates, founders, consultants, campaign operatives and more. The Powerful IDEA Awards, Career Fair, & Talent Expo is a two day event which honors best in class progressive communications & leadership as well as connects job seekers with available roles in progressive politics. The purpose is to elevate, celebrate, and shine a spotlight on the people and programs that power progressive politics, building our pipeline of talent to fight for our democracy. The Powerful IDEA Awards & Expo will help to educate the public on what our industry does, as well as connect both seasoned and new talent to our pipeline that desperately needs to fill roles ahead of the midterm elections. Powerful People Spotlight: Muthoni Wambu Kraal Muthoni is the Powerful IDEA Awards and Expo Chair. She is the founder of Dunia Political Impact, where she is growing the power and support for deeply committed leaders of color and underrepresented communities at every level of the political process. Powerful People Spotlight: Amanda Litman For our second edition of the Powerful People Spotlight, we are honoring Amanda Litman. Amanda Litman is Co-Founder and Co-Executive Director of Run for Something. At Run For Something, Amanda helps recruit and support young progressives running for public office. Battleground with Amanda Litman and Faiz Shakir is nominated for an award at the inaugural Powerful IDEA Awards. We are proud to have Amanda serve as a judge for the Powerful IDEA Awards and we are spotlighting her to thank her for helping organizers and activists when they become candidates. Thus far, the organization has helped over 600 candidates. Today we are highlighting Karine Jean-Pierre, the new White House Press Secretary. She has been nominated for the Media Strategist/Influencer in the Transformational Talent and Leaders category. Karine has made history as the first black person and the first openly LGBTQ person to be the White House Press Secretary. Before, she served as the Deputy Press Secretary, working on the Obama campaign and in the administration, a political analyst for NBC and MSNBC, and Senior Advisor and National Spokesperson for MoveOn.
