Responsibilities include policy research and analysis.
1. Policy research and analysis - Under guidance from the Director of Communications/Policy, undertake specific research on political and public-policy issues relevant to the 20th Senate District. - Monitoring and researching developments and drafting policy papers. - Liaise with organizations to collect and compile policy-specific data
-Draft op-ed pieces and releases based on research.
2. Other - Act as a resource for a range of miscellaneous tasks.
The ideal candidate will: - Be a recent graduate of a relevant program. - Possess very strong English-language written and oral communication skills. Bilingualism is an asset but not required. - Be self-assured and possess a demonstrated ability to think critically and analytically. - Have an understanding and interest in New York public policy and political issues. - Be comfortable using the telephone and email to seek appointments, confirm meetings and follow-up as needed. - Have familiarity with workplace related computer programs (MS Word, Powerpoint, Access, web browsing, email, etc.) - Be able to work in a dynamic office setting as part of a team, and also work independently with little supervision. - Possess excellent time-management, multi-tasking and administrative skills.
