Regional Field Director – Job Description

NextGen Climate is a nonpartisan organization focused on bringing climate change to the forefront of American politics. In 2015-2016, NextGen Climate will be working to support candidates who have demonstrated a serious commitment to taking immediate policy action to address climate change issues.
In New Hampshire, NextGen Climate will run a substantial grassroots organizing and communications program to highlight 2016 Presidential hopefuls’ records as it relates to climate change and the environment. The New Hampshire campaign program will persuade and turn out targeted voters, with a focus on young voters, independent voters, and college students, while also working to educate the electorate and drive a public narrative about the implications of climate change.

NextGen Climate - New Hampshire campaign is seeking highly motivated candidates to serve as Regional Field Directors to assist in running a comprehensive statewide campaign leading up to February’s First-in-the-Nation Primary and November’s General election. The Regional Field Director will oversee regional recruitment and training of grassroots volunteers; build and maintain relationships with allies, stakeholders, and local elected officials; and work with partner organizations to build a comprehensive grassroots foundation in New Hampshire.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the execution of the grassroots organizing and voter contact programs in their region;
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers and grassroots activists;
  • Build and maintain strategic and tactical relationships with local stakeholders and elected officials;
  • Help organize earned media events to attract local, state, and national press corps.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications:
  • Strong management, communication and motivational skills;
  • Proven ability to motivate and manage a diverse group of staff and volunteers; and,
  • Strong planning skills.
  • Works well in an ever-changing environment where creativity and spontaneity are encouraged and sometimes required.
  • Previous organizing experience or particular passion for climate change solutions, energy policy, or the environment a plus.
Training:
Regional Field Directors will receive extensive training and support from the Organizing Director.
Expectations:
Potential campaign staff will be expected to work 50+ hours per week through the Primary and General elections.
Salary/Benefits:
Salary will be commensurate with experience.
