The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) is conducting a targeted campaign to elevate the civil liberties issues at stake during the 2018 electoral cycle. In Florida and Michigan, this program will focus on organizing support in favor of a ballot measure, as well as volunteer recruitment. The field manager will be the senior staffer in the state and will manage a team of organizers. Travel around the state will be required. This is a typical campaign position - through November, 7 days a week, 12 hours a day.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Effectively execute our organizing model

  2. Assist with data management, tracking, and goal setting

  3. Manage and empower an effective and motivated team of field organizers and
    volunteers

  4. Hold field organizers accountable for their goals

  5. Create and adapt outreach materials, trainings, and tools

  6. Coordinate with the paid canvassing program

  7. Provide strategic direction and oversight of all field operations and set priorities

  8. Build and maintain relationships with the in-state ACLU staff and partner organizations

  9. Ensure strong communications and coordination with the campaign manager


REQUIREMENTS:

  1. 7+ years experience in nonprofit, union, and/or electoral organizing

  2. 5+ years of staff and program management experience in nonprofit, union, and/or electoral setting

  3. Passion for civil liberties

  4. Strong understanding of how to target a diverse range of constituents

  5. Demonstrated skills in coalition building, political strategy, campaign management, and measurable goal tracking and reporting

  6. Experience implementing a multi-layer engagement plan and messaging strategy

  7. Experience with ballot measure campaigns

  8. Advanced VAN skills a must (bulk uploads, MyVoters v. MyCampaign, miniVAN, creating scripts, advanced reporting, etc.)

  9. Proficient with Excel and Google Sheets (formatting, formulas, sumifs, pivot tables, etc.)

  10. Ability to work well with senior staff across departments

  11. Exceptional interpersonal communication skills

  12. Excellent management, strategic thinking, and planning

  13. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment


The salary range for this position is $5,500 to $6,500 per month depending on experience and location (non-negotiable). Travel stipend to and from the state, housing (extended stay hotel), and health care stipend are also offered.
