Organizer

 

We are seeking campaign organizers to join a growing team to work on a progressive campaign in New York City. Organizers will work directly with community leaders and volunteers to mobilize the electorate for the June Primary. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about criminal justice reform and the Democratic cause.

 

Responsibilities

-    Recruit and train volunteers for the campaign.

-   Engage with community groups and community leaders to communicate to a broader audience around the campaign.

-    Work closely with the Field Director to plan constituency events that will garner earned media and highlight the candidate's stance on important issues. 

-    Provide regular qualitative and quantitate reports on the field program

 

Skills & Experience

-       Knowledge of New York City politics is a plus.

-       Campaign experience is a plus.

-       Ability to problem-solve independently and take creative approaches to meeting goals

-       Computer proficiency (including but not limited to: VAN, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel)

-       Must be able to work campaign hours as well as nights and weekends as needed

 

Position Type: Full-time, starts ASAP

Salary: Commensurate with experience

Communications Director

 

We are seeking a Communications Director for a progressive campaign in New York City. The Communication Director is responsible for developing and executing sophisticated media strategies to advance our campaign message points. They will work closely with the consultant to craft and execute communications plan and build relationships with news media, editors, reporters, and bloggers to advance our campaign. The Communications Director will serve as a key strategist on our campaign.

 

 

Responsibilities

·        Lives in the news cycle; monitors risks and opportunities; seizes real-time media opportunities to advance our values, position and brand;

·        Builds relationships with print, broadcast and new media journalists;

·        Anticipates, prevents, and, if necessary, manages crisis communications;

·        Drafts talking points, op-eds, memos, and other materials, as needed;

·        Identifies online organizing opportunities and manages new media efforts;

·        Produces detailed reports of communications activities for staff and leadership;

·        Other duties, as required.

 

 

Skills & Experience

·        Knowledge of New York City politics is a plus;

·        Experience in communications, public relations, or advocacy; political campaign and strategic research experience preferred;

·        Experience landing high-profile media placements and dealing with reporters, editors, editorial boards, columnists, bloggers, broadcast producers and thought leaders is a plus

·        Strong research background; demonstrated ability to identify research needs and manage research projects;

·        Exceptional writing skills for both press and popular audiences. Writing should be sharp, personable, and memorable;

·        Excellent detail-oriented project management;

·        Smart political judgment; the ability to anticipate how friends and opponents will respond to our actions or statements;

·        Knowledge of online advocacy tools and online organizing tactics is a plus;

·          Must be able to work campaign hours as well as nights and weekends as needed
