We're looking for smart, talented creative staff to join the digital team at Organizing for Action's headquarters in Chicago.
OFA is a non-profit issue advocacy organization fighting for change, while building the progressive infrastructure of tomorrow through grassroots organizing and training. Our digital team is hard working, creative, and passionate about working every day for a movement of millions. We're focused on running a data-driven, people-centric program that isn't just compelling but effective.
We hire designers who know how to visually tell a story and inspire action, while working on tight deadlines in a collaborative environment. Your work will shape the debate and give a voice to everyday Americans on issues like climate change, economic opportunity, immigration, health care, women's rights, and more.
Position Summary:
The Visual Designer will create design assets for Organizing for Action’s various platforms and execute highly visual and creative solutions. This position reports to the Deputy Digital Director and is based in Chicago.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Design or related field
- 3+ years of relevant work experience
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with After Effects
- Experience with merchandise design strongly preferred
- Understanding of best practices and emerging trends within the digital/social space
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills
- Creativity is a must!
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and take direction
- A collaborative attitude with ability and willingness to do whatever it takes to get the job done
- Must demonstrate passion for work and a sense of fun in-work style and design
- General interest and dedication to the mission of OFA
- Ability to maintain the highest degree of confidentiality regarding all aspects of work at all times
- Proven ability to act as a leader in communicating conceptual ideas and design rationale, all within a user-centered design process
- Ability to work well under pressure and organize tasks to ensure completion of projects.
- Illustration experience a plus.
Some Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create design assets for OFA including but not limited to: merchandise, social graphics, email graphics, presentations, etc.
- Work with Digital team to execute a creative and visual email program
- Design all store and merchandise assets
- Work with Social Media & Content Managers to create visually creative and compelling social media visual content for all social media accounts
- Work with the Finance team to produce mock-ups and design iterations for donors and board members
- Make pretty things. Make smart things. Have fun.
