Title: Latino Community Organizer The Maryland League of Conservation Voters Education Fund is hiring a Community Organizer for our Latino Outreach Program to activate Latino communities in Baltimore and Maryland. The ideal candidate will have experience engaging grassroots volunteers through community outreach and have a genuine interest in developing individuals' and communities' leadership. He or she will have excellent communications and outreach skills, and strong interest in environmental activism. Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual and have Baltimore experience or ties. 

Responsibilities:
 Develop relationships with Latino community members to establish active volunteers who can effectively advocate for environmental and community health issues;

 Recruit and engage volunteers, develop volunteer leaders and ensure active participation in grassroots activities;

 Organize local Latino participation in grassroots events using methods such as: one-on-ones, meetings and presentations to moves volunteers into increasing leadership roles; 

 Organize events such as: neighborhood meetings, media events, forums, and ensure participation; 

 Engage in intensive outreach including phone banking, door-to-door canvassing, and other tactics; 

 Develop strong relationships with local Latino leaders, environmental and other affected communities. 

Qualifications: 

 Enthusiasm and a commitment to building the voice and leadership of Latinos in Baltimore; 

 2+ years community, issue, labor, or political organizing, preferably within the Latino community;
 Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Spanish; 

 A strong interest in environmental activism;

 Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast paced work environment; 

 Willingness to learn, be adaptable in a variety of situations and be a problem-solver; 

 Fluency in Microsoft Office Suite. Compensation: Compensation depends upon qualifications and experience and includes benefits such as health and dental insurance, vacation and a 401K plan. 

Position Requirements: This is a full time position based in Baltimore. Evening and weekend hours and access to a car are required to be successful.
