Top Tier Congressional Campaign Seeks Communications Director

[Midwest Congressional Campaign]

A top tier midwest congressional campaign is seeking a Communications Director to fulfill the following responsibilities: 

·      Acts as the primary on-the-record spokesperson and media liaison for the campaign;

·      Develops and implements media and communications strategies for the campaign;

·      Drafts press releases, memorandums for the media, talking points and candidate preparation materials;

·      Stays up-to-date on current legislative and non-legislative issues which the campaign or candidate could be questioned about.

·      Places and generates stories to further the campaign’s message and earned press objectives;

·      Staffs the candidate at earned media events;

·      Develops and maintains relationships with local and national reporters;

·      Works well under pressure and handles stress;

·      Works a flexible schedule including long hours, nights and weekends; and

·      Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualified applicants will have the following skills and knowledge: 

·      Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills;

·      Strong communication skills;

·      Understanding of print, broadcast, and online media;

·      One to two years experience as an on-the-record spokesperson 

·      Spanish fluency preferred but not required.
