| Dear JTAL Community, However you’re spending this week, I hope it is filled with peace, joy, and time with loved ones. The day after Christmas is quieter for most—a pause before what comes next, but not for me this year. I’m traveling to my beloved Rwanda today to manage several Global GAIN projects before I step back from much of my work to focus on my health, including surgery and recovery from a double mastectomy early in the new year. I won’t lie, this is an overwhelming time for me —especially at a moment when the work feels more urgent than ever, and so many of us are already stretched thin. I’m generally not comfortable asking, but I need your help today. I really need it. So many count on our work and I’m not going to be able to do half of what I usually do for the first quarter of the new year. Can you help? |

In the U.S., democracy professionals—campaign staff, organizers, advocates, consultants, and public servants—are experiencing burnout, unemployment, and leaving the field in numbers I’ve never seen before. Institutions are being hollowed out, cruelty toward immigrants is increasingly normalized, and organizations resisting this president are being asked to do more with fewer people, fewer resources, and no margin for error. That is the space GAIN Power & Global GAIN exists to fill. Together, we support, mentor, and place democracy professionals—providing real capacity to organizations that protect democratic institutions and run campaigns to elect leaders who share our values. This work is not theoretical; it is a lifeline for people and a vital service to the pro-democracy movement. At the same time, through Global GAIN, we support women and youth facing crisis through quiet, humanitarian work that may not make headlines, but changes lives. This year, Global GAIN’s work has included: Providing travel support and fee waivers so over 100 democracy professionals could attend our trainings and election debriefs during a year of layoffs and burnout Supporting young women leaders in Rwanda, building civic leadership, and teaching creative skills to women without access to education, so they can earn a living. The pic above is from this program, and you can read more on their Substack. Providing humanitarian support in the Democratic Republic of Congo, including food, school fees, and basic needs for women caring for abandoned children and orphans Assisting families in Gaza with meeting urgent needs, including food, medical care, and education, during times of crisis.
For now, the work is fragile. The stakes are high. And the need is real. As we close out this year, I invite you to make a year-end contribution to Global GAIN or a gift to GAIN Power. Your support helps sustain this community, strengthen our infrastructure, and keep this vital work moving forward at a critical moment. |

Whether you give $5, $50, $100, or more, know that your support ensures people can keep fighting for democracy, and organizations aren’t left without needed talent. We’re using a new processing platform that is 100% free for us donors, but if you prefer actblue because your payment cards are saved, you can still give on it here.
Thank you for being the driving force of this community. Your unwavering support, compassion, and action not only sustain our work—they inspire hope and resilience in all of us. Together, we create lasting impact for democracy and transform lives through our dedication. Sending you and yours my season’s greetings and good vibes for better times ahead. With deep gratitude, Amy Pritchard Founder, Global GAIN & GAIN Power P.S. If this message resonates, please forward it to others who might give before year-end. Sharing expands our reach and impact. |
